Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console

1 Answer

Slow xbox 360

Certain things i try are very slow.
i tried 3 different games, elder scrolls oblivion, call of duty 4, and halo 3. with oblivion it takes forever to scroll down my saves to choose one to save over, and when i do select a save to overwrite, it takes 3 times as long as usual. with call of duty i can't get into an online game, it puts me in my own match over and over and nobody ever joins, not to mention it takes a long time to get to that screen. and halo 3 i try to go to matchmaking and it just takes forever, i didn't wait to see if it even succeeded in connecting me. The dashboard everything is also slow. every action i make just takes a few seconds longer.

really funny thing is that some gaming sessions are fine, i have no problems with call of duty or oblivion or the dashboard.

p.s. i have a cooling fan on the xbox, and a small fan blowing on it just in case the cooling fan isn't working, because it makes a loud vibration sound when it is attached, which leads me to believe the cooling fan may not be working like it should.

p.s.s. there is something rattling in the box, a piece of something, i think it might be a piece of plastic from the cooling fan attachments (the 4 plastic appendages that keep the fan secured to the box) , for there are small pieces broken off of it.

I'm having the exact same problem. I can't connect to LIVE, and the games load very slow.

However, once I'm in my offline game (Halo campaign mode, or a single player game like Dead Space), things are fine "in-game".

Regardless, all loading takes forever, and connection to LIVE is ****.

That doesn't sound good i would most defanitly call microsoft 18004myxbox and tell them, they should be able to replace your faulty xbox,
hope it works.

this may be caused from copying files over to another gamertag in which you wouldnt get achievements now about not saving the memory may be full or the system itself is not detecting the drive for memory

I have the same problem

Try using a DVD/CD lens cleaner (found at walmart/best buy).

The games are read by the lens, and processed through the internal graphics system. But the Dashboard ( and possibly the guide too) don't have to go through the lens.

If the cleaner doesn't make a difference try this-

Start your 360 with Halo 3 in the tray.
On the XBOX Dashboard, scroll to the section where you would press "A" to launch the game, but instead press "Y".
If your 360 is up to date, you should have the option to save the game to your hard-drive. -Do it
Hopefully, it will download without the static issue.

If that doesn't work, contact Microsoft.

Xbox 360 elite, call of duty 4 fault

Hi Jake,
Yhe only thing noticable here, is that the 360 elite has the 60 gig hard-drive instead of the Standard 20 gig, as fitted with the white 360. perhaps you might be able to try a 20 gig hard-drive on the box. May work, worth a shot. i,d also check microsofts site, for any game updates or patches for the game itself.

hope this helps ya buddy.

p.s plenty of people would be willing to trade your elite for a standard white 360. this would be another alternative.

Xbox 360 - Oblivion IV - loading probs

Next time the game is loading, try clearing out the cache. You can do this by holding down the A button while the game loads. When you see the Oblivion title screen come up, your cache should be cleared. This may clear up your issue. If that doesn't do it for you, you can try to clear the cache out another way. There are many websites that can assist you with that. When in google, search for: Clear XBOX 360 cache. Hope this helps you.
