Question about Toshiba Satellite A100-S8111TD Notebook
Toshiba laptopI have a toshiba laptop 13 ms old (wouldn't ya know) nothing shows on screen but can hook to another monitor and then the screen will come on. Everything else works fine except before this happened it would not shutdown when shut even though I had set it to, it would come back on...but if you shut down, unplugged adapter and shut it would stay off.
Toshiba says screen is probably out..no because it comes on when hook to another monitor...a computer repair place says mother board ''may'' be fried..works fine as far as that goes..said it could also be a loose connection,or bad ribbon wire going to screen..Thay have the laptop but said since they really don't know the repair would probably be $550...help please. I am not going to pay this I will just buy another one. My husband works on desktop computers but says laptops are a new beast to him unless someone could walk him through. Oh and yes before you ask we have checked all settings we even wiped it and tried to start over. Any ideas will greatly be appreciated
Your problem is the inverter board in the display. Thats the reason why its working with an external display. The external display input is from the video card not from your display. You can get an inverter board for around 30-50$. Be advised that if you are not experienced in electronics better leave this job for a tech.
