We appericate the effort. we did check out the lid switch and that was not the problem. We are on Social Security and thus will not be able to have a repairman out. Not a good thing to have happen, espically in today's economy. We were hoping it was just something simple, or just a fluke. again. thanks for the effort.

Washer fills then will not go thru cycle, usually after opening and shutting lid numberous times and resetting dial it will then go thru and finish load however just recently if we can get to start it will again stop on rinse full of dirty water!!! What do we do cannot afford a repairman!! This problem was intermitten and now occurs every time we do a load.

The lid switch housing had broken on m washer so that the switch was just hanging there.....when the lid was closed it did not press on the switch. I am just going to tape the switch in the on position and put up inside the washer housing.

CHECK YOUR LID SWITCH!

My Kenmore HE2 front load washer when I go to start a load of clothes it's making a humming sound and not filling up with water?

Either one of your water valves isn't working properly, or the lines have sediment restricting the volume of water . What I would do is turn the water to the machine off and remove the water lines and make sure they aren't filled will calcium, etc. and look in the water valves where the hoses connect because that are, which has a screen, may be full of nastiness. If both those are good then the water valve solenoid(s) are stuck and won't open. The humming sound you hear lets you know the rest of the machine is working because the sound is generated by power being applied to the valve by the control.

Kenmore top load washer 29822800 - washer-selector is set on one rinse- when machine starts the agitator starts immediately as water fills - then when machine stops after spin cycle in off position water...

if you are saying that the washer finishes the load of clothes and timer goes to off and water is filling the tub after this then you have a bad water valve on the back of the washer.disconnect the water lines and change out the valve

Washer wont fill

It sounds like your washer is not getting enough water to start. If your washing machine is filling too slowly, then you probably have a clogged screen on the back of your washer. To check this: Turn off the water supplies(both hot and cold). Remove the hoses at the back of the washer. Check the screens for debris(i.e. rust, dirt, scale, etc.) The screens will be pushed into the back of the washer where the water enters the washer. Debris can come from a variety of places: #1 Deposits coming off the sides of your pipes.(Older homes) #2 Repairs done to your plumbing lines, or the cities lines.

If these screens are clear of debris, I would then check the water flow out of the hoses. Take each hose with the end pointing into a bucket, and turn on the water to allow a full flow. This will also flush each line of debris. There could also be a number of reasons that there would not be full flow out of the supply lines: #1 Debris stopping up the line at the shut-off is one of the main causes.

If you have debris stopping up your screens and shut-offs, it will most likely stop up your aerators on your faucets, and your shower heads too. It is also suggested that you check these.

If you are getting debris in all these items, I would recommend that your lines get flushed. You can do this, but many times it is easier to have a plumber do this. If you do not know what you are doing, it can get very wet, and time consuming.
