Either a dirty or bad optical pickup in the player--it attempts to read the disc etc.

Try playing a regular CD first and take it out if it played. Then put the DVD and it will play fine because the player just realign its lense. Hope it will help

SOURCE: Philips DVP 5992 DVD player disk tray opens without a disk

You can call Phillips customer support at this telephone number 1-888-744-5477. Tell them while using the disc player the unit failed to eject the disc and ask the for a way to solve the problem. It is best to talk to them in this case as the solution will involve a opening of the unit to figure out what has malfunctioned to cause this problem. I hope this information helps you with your problem.

No disc fault appears on screen of model insignia ns-pdvd10. Am I able to correct this problem?

Ensure that the disk is clean. The player may not play a disk if there is internal condensation; leave the player on for an hour. You may wish to try a lens cleaner. If these steps don't resolve the problem, repairs may be required. Service can be obtained by carrying the unit in to the place of purchase.

Dvd palyer insignia portabal dvd player IS-pddvd7

I had the same problem yesterday. First, I tried a DVD lens cleaner, but to no avail. Next I tried a manual cleaning with a cotton swab and isopropyl alcohol. The problem still persisted and I noticed that the laser remained in the middle position each time I changed disks. I manually moved the laser to another position to see if it would make a difference. I finally got it to work by moving the laser to the home position (closest to the center). My DVD player is working now. I apologize for the travel diary, but the solution might have been a combination of the steps I took.

Portable DVD player

One simple way to check if it's the player acting up or if it's in a different mode is to switch the SOURCE toggle on the left side of the player (above the headphone jacks). If the switch is flipped, the player is set to be a monitor for a different source device (i.e. connecting a VCR or DVD player to the portable player to use the screen and speakers).

If this doesn't work, then you should take the player back to Best Buy to be looked at by a technician.
