Usually when you lose only AM it is an antenna issue. Check for a loose antenna plug on the back of the radio or connection to the antenna.

My cd player will not work in 2005 my chrysler 300 the radio works but the cd player wont work whats wrong

Your chrysler 300 has a factory amplifier built in to the system. Seems you have connected the radios antenna turn on wire (usually solid blue) to the factory amp turn on wire. You must disconect the radios antenna turn on wire and connect the blue wire with a white stripe to the factory amp turn on wire. The problem with the blue antenna turn on wire is that when you are switching from radio to cd the unit is shutting off power on that wire(because it thinks its trying to lower a power antenna) Once the correct blue/white wire is connected the factory amp will stay on wether its am/fm or cd. Hope this helped

Location of reset on unit

when you disconnect it from cables, it resets. But i believe that is not the problem. Check speaker cables. I think you have problem with internal power amps. They have thermal and current protection. look for short circuits on speakers or speaker cables.

No sound from front speakers during CD operation.

I think you are using an external amplifier,if this is the case, you may be using the wrong remote wire for the amp.
Alpine use two blue wires,BLUE (only) this wire is for the pwr antenna and every time you insert a cd, this pwr line cut out.
BLUE/WHITE STRIPE this is the remote wire that you need to connect the remote of the amplifier.
