Re: Blurry Screen

The bottom is blurry because some of the anti-freeze (clear ethelyne glycol) has leaked out. This anit freeze needs to be replaced or the CRT will get too hot and break. It will also clear up the picture.

Blurry screen

I have researched your set. There isn't a date of production that is available so your guesstimate of 11 years old is about where I would place it.

For your specific problem (which is common among old style projection TVs) it's usually the three picture tube or "guns" are showing their age. If it has slowly become more blurry then that is the case. If it has suddenly become blurry then there may be a fixable defect. Judging by it's age I would suspect that your are up for replacing all three tubes in your set. My recommendation is DON'T DO IT. You will be much better off purchasing a newer and preferably flat screen TV. All projection TVs with picture tubes in them typically last between 10,000 and 20,000 hours of operation. At 11 years your set is in that range if you watch an average amount of TV. Enjoy looking for a new set and pick out something that tickles your fancy. Sets have improved vastly with the thin screen technology.

Blurry screen?

there are 3 things that will make your tv go blurry, the focus and screen control assembly , the high voltage splitter and the horizotal transformer and that is only if all three tubes are blurry.if only one tube is blurry, more than likely the tube itself is bad.
