Emachine t1842 will not come on. used to come on and brought up bios setup. i replaced battery, still same prob. then one day it would not turn on at all and has not come back on since.

I've had quite a few of these in my shop, and the problem is usually the power supply. Additionally, when the power supply goes out, it can do damage to the motherboard as well. First try swapping out the power supply and if that doesn't fix it, you will probably need a new motherboard.

I cannot boot up the computer. When I push the front power button, nothing happens. When I flip the switch on the back, or unplug it for 30 secs and plug it back in, the fan starts up and a yellow light...

I had this happen to my emachines T1842 about a year ago. I replaced the power supply and it worked fine. It was about 25 bucks but fixed my problem. Make sure the red switch on the back hasnt been messed with. it should be on 115. If you have moved it, it may have blown a fuse inside the power supply.

Power button has no response, no lights..nothing

E-machines are notorious for this type of issue. You will need to contact E-Machines and check to see if you have warranty. If not you will want to talk to them about your options.

LG Tromm WM2277H washer won't start after tripping breaker

no fuses only control boards.with power off pull the top off and check wires at your power supply board(not the one with buttons). Look for burn or damaged wires. no luck with that, will probably need power board(usually the board that goes out). Call LG and speak to cust service....sometimes will cover the board.

Macbook wont start

hi bobbie,

The only reason to pull the battery is to reset the SMU (used to be called the PMU). Do this when it's unplugged and completely un-powered, hold down the Start button for at least 5-7 seconds (count slowly) and then re-energize (battery and AC usually).

Also try zapping the PRAM (restart, holding down Command/Apple, Alt/Option, "P" + "R" (all four at once) and repeat until you hear start-up chimes at least 3 times. These may not fix it, but won't hurt.

The flashing question mark indicates that it's not finding the OS on the hard drive. In my experience, this usually means a re-install of the OS. If it's still doing this after the first two step above, dig out your install DVDs and get started.

Starting with the alt (option) button should put you into the Boot Manager. The password should typically be the the password for your (hopefully Admin-enabled) user account. Did you set the Master Password in the System Preferences? If so, you're back to erasing/starting over. If you use powerful features like this, select passwords you can remember, or write them down and store them securely (NOT a Post-It™ taped to the bottom of the MacBook or penciled in on the bezel - yes, I've seen both).

If I can be of further assistance, or if you have questions about any of my response(s), please let me know before rating me.

If this solves the issue, please rate it accordingly. My goal is to earn a "FixYa" rating from everyone I help.

Thanks for using Fixya.com,

Jon
