Question about Philips CCA134AT 13 in. Combo
Is there a way to get a stuck VHS tape out of a TV/VCR combo? I've taken the back off of the TV and pushed every lever that looks likely. I tried forcibly (gently) lifting the little plastic wheels that will bring the tape up, but no luck. I can't figure out how to get this thing out of the TV. Help! (p.s. what brilliant person decided to create a TV that would only work if the VCR was working?!!)
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

What you're describing is common when the center LED has failed / gone out. If you're really good at taking a unit like this apart and putting it back together - and not too bad with a solder stick you could attempt this one yourself... It is a pretty intensive repair but not difficult for a good shop just time consuming. The part isn't too expensive either, just an infared LED... In fact, we've run a bit short on stock once in awhile and bought one of the off the shelf versions from Radio Shack which worked just fine. Good Luck Bill

SOURCE: VCR TAPE IS STICK IN VCR PLAYER.
if you can't get the tape out enough to pull it very carefully out by hand, you'll have to bring it to a repair shop. the tape is probably twisted up inside and jammed.

The problem is that the loading is out of timing by a tooth. This would explain both the attempt to load a non-existant tape as well as the unit shutting down. This unit needs to be disassembled and the belts replaced and the loading mechanism re-timed. I have done many of these with success. While time consuming because the entire unit must be taken apart, it is not a real difficult repair for anyone that has done them in the past. Where are you located so I can make a referral?
