At what torque should lug nuts be tightened

    • 1 Check the maximum pressure rating of the air tank. The rated pressure is indicated in pounds per square inch (psi). If there is no indication of limit on the tank, do not use it.
    • 2 Drain any accumulated moisture from the compressed air tank before filling. If the tank has no drain valve, you may skip this step.
    • 3 Remove the cap from the fill valve. The valve is the same size and type as used on automobile tires. The location of the valve differs depending on manufacturer.
    • 4 Attach the fitting of the air supply hose to the valve stem of the air tank and depress the fitting firmly. If the air tank has its own pressure gauge installed, keep a close watch to avoid over-pressurizing. Wear safety glasses when filling the air tank.
    • 5 Stop filling the air tank periodically and check the tank pressure using an air pressure gauge if the tank does not have one installed. As the air pressure in the tank increases, check more frequently until the maximum amount is reached.
    • 6 Remove the air supply fitting and replace cap.

Why does air tool blow air without driving

Either you have lubricated the head instead of the air inlet end or you have worn out the little ball bearings in the head. The drive head only needs a dap of light grease bi annually or when being repaired. The air inlet end needs oil drops daily or every time you use it. Once the two little ball bearings in the head have flat spotted they are worn out and need replaced.

My 1/4 ratchet operates with air applied, without moving the pin. The pin and spring are there and free. This ratchet has sat in my tool box for 10+ years. Was there a plastic "ball" that used to be in...

Most CP ratchets have an oring that seals the trigger valve. You can remove the screw on the top of the trigger and then remove the spring and valve pin. There should be an oring around the bell of this pin. You can probably get away with using any oring that is the same size, and not having to get the exact oring from the manufacturer.
