Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

I just got a Zyxel Prestige 660HW-61 model # 401315, and at first it would connect to my desktop, but the wireless would not connect on my laptop. I contacted my DSL provider, who also provided me with the router, and they said it was a glitch. Today they told me to shut the router off and turn it back on because the problem was resolved. After I shut the router off and turned it back on I could no longer connect to my desktop and the connection showed up on my laptop as lockon and is now unsecured, but we still cannot connect on it. What could be the problem?

Try reseting the prestige, theres a reset button in the back, hold it down for 30seconds it will restore the zyxel to factory defaults and it should work instantly.

Dell dimension 3000 won't see wireless network

Hi, I've jst been looking on the web at the Mimo routers, you may find this article interesting, it may help even though its a couple of years old?

http://www.behardware.com/articles/614-2/wi-fi-mimo.html

Pay attention to part about 802.11n compatibility?
Perhaps try changing the IEEE standard on the router to 802.11g in the set up pages, as it may be set at 802.11n, which your older wireless card will not see.

As to the acquiring ip address message, try using a static ip address, here's a good guide:-

Maybe this will help?

My laptop is already wireless so I know I don't need the flash drive or the software that goes with it. Laptop already connects to internet with cord- no probs. Router is ZyXEL Prestige 660HW- T1....

there is a problem with the security feature of your wireless router (SSID - Service Set Identifier). the most effective solution for this is reseting the router but pressing the small hidden button at the bottom part of the w-router itself. it will automatically reset your router.

the reason why you always connect to a different router is because your router rejects your attempt to connect to it and you computer automatically searched for another router in the area and connect itself to it.

Cause of the issue:

* you forgot the password or (SSID - Service Set Identifier)
* someone put a password on your router without you knowing it
* you accidentally inputted a password or (SSID - Service Set Identifier)

Hope this one works! Because i am sure with it!

Your good rating will be much appreciated, thanks!

I have a ZyXEL P-660HW-TI ADSL wireless router used as the gateway and wireless AP (also the wired ports are used for LAN). It has no VoIP ports. I do have a 2nd ADSL router (not used: no wireless, 1 LAN...

No because the VOIP need to be loged in first. if you have the voip first then the wireless router and you turned off the router dchp section part of the wireless modem then perhaps it will work, plus you need a voip account.

Zyxl P660 HW can not connect 1 pc wireless and 1 cabled at the same time. only 1 at a time

hi Bradius,

I suggest you update your P660 gateway's firmware to the latest version, seeing as how the latest firmware has the latest driver for the P660 wireless module. The new firmware can be downloaded at
http://www.zyxel.com/web/support_download_list.php?indexflag=20040906164737&ModelIndexflags=0,420041221102511,420041221102520,420050117110858,420050117110916,420050117110934,420050831093216,420050831095441,420060420160946,420060816160116

After updating the firmware of your gateway, I suggest you update your PC's wireless network adapter's driver to the latest version (if you can supply me with the make and model I'll be happy to direct you to the site where you can download the driver).

If you still have problems connecting the PCs after you have updated as per above guidelines, I suggest looking into how to map the gateway's LAN port 1 and wireless LAN port to PVC (Private Virtual Connection) 1at

I hope you find this information helpful in solving the problem.
Please take the time to rate this solution.
Kind regards and thanks for using the FixYa service.
