I tried what you told me to do and I pressed F2 but all it says is something like please wait going to whatever the page is and it just stays there and does nothing and my lights that normally blink randomly at the top left of the keyboard are not lit up at all! I am so upset! I cannot do my school work now either!

    Hope you can help me!

When I talked about beeps I just meant that when I touched a key on the keyboard it beeped! No blinking lights though on the top right corner and when I pressed and held down the off button on the top left it never made that CLICK sound as if it turned off! The screen just went black and nothing else happened but it never clicked off! I know you are not supposed to turn your computer off this way but seeing as I could not get up any other screen to turn it off I had to do something to stop it from running! I am getting so frustrated! You are trying to help me and I am still getting no where and I cannot afford a new computer right now especially with christmas right around the corner! Please any other suggestions

Try removing the bios battery. switch on and off. Replace the battery and the bios should be available.

there is a problem with the bios, computers only beep on keyboard touch like that when the bios is not loading properly, there could be a couple of reasons for this, look underneath the laptop, there should be a panel or panels which you can uncsrew, take the panels off and remove the memory (RAM). clean it or them and replace them, then try to start the latop. If this still does not work take the hard drive out and try again. here is a picture of the memory to help you

keep me informed and good luck

It sounds like the BIOS may have 'forgotten' your primary drive settings or the drive is dead :-(
Possipbly it has come loose and needs reseating.
Press F2 should get you into the BIOS and then get it to autodetect the primary drive.
Let me know if this helps.

Hi. Try to do backup or start last good configuration:
To start your computer by using the Last Known Good Configuration feature, follow these steps:
  1. Start your computer.
  2. When you see the "Please select the operating system to start" message, press the F8 key.
  3. When the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, use the ARROW keys to select Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked), and then press ENTER.
  4. If you are running other operating systems on your computer, use the ARROW keys to select Microsoft Windows XP, and then press ENTER.

How to Restore a Toshiba L305The Toshiba Satellite L305 notebook computer has a recovery program pre-installed at the factory that lets users return the hard drive to its out-of-box state. Using the recovery feature completely deletes all software and options saved on the laptop, which resolves any boot up problems and removes any virus infections. The recovery option isn't accessible directly through the operating system however, and must be accessed by starting up the computer in a different way than normal. Step 1 Close out any software currently running on your Toshiba Satellite L305 laptop. Navigate to the laptop's "Start" menu and choose "Shut Down."
Step 2 Hold down the laptop's "0" key and press the power button. Keep the key held down during the boot up process until the "Toshiba Recovery Wizard" window loads on the screen.
Step 3 Click the check box labeled "Recovery of Factory Default Software." Choose the "Next" option.
Step 4 Choose the "Recover to out-of-box state" radio button. Select the "Next" button and click "Next" again. Wait for the "Press any key" prompt to appear and tap a key to restart the laptop.
Step 5 Use the prompts that appear on the screen to choose your region, time zone and keyboard settings. Type your new Windows user name and password in the text boxes when prompted. Click "Finish" to load the new operating system....

How do you get the prtsc sysqr key to work?

To 'dump' your entire screen, hold the [shift] key down and press the [PrtScr] key one time. Thi will "copy" your desktop to cache. You may "paste" the screenshot into your favorite wordprocessor, such as MS Word or Write (WordPad).
To copy the 'active window', hold the [Alt] key down and press the [PrtScr] key one time... paste this into Word, WordPad, etc.

Toshiba a75 s-206 problems helppppppppppppppp

Sounds like a bad hard drive to me. Take out the hard drive completely from the laptop and boot up with the windows xp cd and it should go past the blinking cursor. At that point you know you'll need another hard drive.

cutemah, Is your cd/dvd internal or usb? Have you tried to login using safemode? When the first Toshiba screen appears press the F8 key. Choose safe mode. Since you say the cd/dvd isn't being recognized that too may be the problem. Try removing the cd/dvd player and see if the machine starts. Is the error code only 0x57 or is there more? It is sounding more hardware related than software related. What program are you using to format the hard drive? Send me a little more information please. Let me know what happens. Good Luck, Tim
