I have the hinge receptacles - don't need a reference to parts

initial response was of no value

  • aev_1975 Nov 15, 2008

Does anybody really read the problem - a hinge receptacle is NOT AN ELECTRICAL DEVICE

  • aev_1975 Nov 15, 2008

I'm sorry I have not received what I consider professional help and request a refund

    Thanks

  • aev_1975 Nov 15, 2008

    Still more unsatisfactory solutions.
I don't need parts, or a parts manual, the hinge receptacle is not an electrical part.

All I need to know are the steps to install the hinge receptacle - what do I have to remove?

Is there anyone capable of understanding the issue before firing off an answer? I doubt it and want my money back.

  • aev_1975 Nov 15, 2008

At last - a good solution. One question - I plan to replace the hinges first with the new springs to see if that corrects the closure problem. Door just doesn't close fully. If that works, I won't mess with the receptacles (unless there is a tolerance change). Any recommendation?

    Thanks again!

The fifth solution by GINKO was acceptable.
Why can't I find this again for printing?

To remove the door from the hinge assembly:

  1. In most cases the door may be removed by positioning the door slightly ajar (in the broiler operating position) and lifting the door up and off the hinge assembly.
  2. Check your owner's manual for access:
    1. For some models you may have to first remove screws holding the door to the hinge.
    2. For some models, access to the hinge assembly is through the broiler or storage drawer.
    3. For some models, access is gained through the side panel.

This appliance is equipped with a 3-prong grounding plug for
your protection against shock hazard and should be plugged directly into a
properly grounded receptacle. DO NOT cut or remove the grounding prong from
this plug.
For personal safety, the range must be properly grounded. For maximum safety,
the power cord must be plugged into an electrical outlet that is correctly polarized
and properly grounded.
If a 2-prong wall receptacle is the only available outlet, it is the personal
responsibility of the consumer to have it replaced with a properly grounded 3-
prong wall receptacle installed by a qualified electrician.

so please call for more help.

In the following diagram you will have to remove the door and the hinges first, then you remove the side panel, part nr 3, to access the hinges receptacle that is part 86 in picture.

To remove the side panel you need to remove the screws 5 and 5A at the bottom.

    Hi there,

First of all what was the good solution, you have many of them, since mine was refused, the comment must be directed to somebody else.

I am still puzzled abot this.

    Regarding your problem:

naturally remove the door first, and inspect the hinge, that is parts 23/54 on the following diagram.

If the hinges are bent , or not well in place, you do not need to remove the receptacle, saving yourself a lot of extra job.

The receptacle rarely gets deformed, the first part to break among the two is usually the hinge, check the hinge first.

Let me know if my comments had been helpful.

    Thanks.

I also publish my previous comment for better clarity::

For most ranges, that hinge part can be installed from the front with just a couple screws and possibly access reaching in from the drawer after that is removed. It's hard to tell from the diagram if this one can be done that way, or it the side panels must come off. I hope you don't have to do that, because that is a bit of a pain. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but I have not personally done this on a Frigidaire (Several GE's, which are the way I listed, rather easy)

Putting door back on but hinge wont release to put back on

Hi Susan, this is AP! Thank you for your post.

I understand you are having trouble putting the door back on your Frigidaire wall oven. Without knowing exactly how you removed the door I cannot say with certainty how to reattach the door. However, when removing the door did you pull up the lock located on both hinge supports and engage it in the hinge lever hooks? You might have had to apply a little downward pressure on the door to pull the locks fully over the hinge lever hooks. Then grab the door by the sides and pull the bottom of the door up and toward you to disengage the hinge supports. If so, then to reattached the door grab the door by the sides; place the hinge supports in the hinge slots. Open the door to the fully opened position. Disengage the lock from the hinge lever hooks on both sides. Make sure the hinge supports are fully engaged before unlocking the hinge levers. Then close the oven door. There are instructions with images to remove and replace the oven door in the owner's manual. I hope this information proves helpful for you.

Jen-air electric oven jjw8530. Door will not shut all the way. Light stays on. Hindges have been replaced twice. Not hindges! Help!

Bubbcrk,

Is your door lock in the way? I think that your model has one correct? Have you checked the door light switch? If it is the switch that is keeping the door from shutting and turning the light out, you can get one fairly cheap.
Please Clarify.

Removing the door from a thermador oven CT130

Usually you will find a hole in each hinge to hold the hinge open when removing the door.

It is impossible to fight the door hinge springs and remove or install the door.

One opens the door and puts a nail through the hole to keep the hinge open for each hinge.

Have a dble frigidaire ovenand the right hinge is

Basically, oven hinges more or less work on the same principle. However, they do not normally pop out so I am reluctant to say what the problem is. Normally your handbook will tell you how to remove and replace the oven door.
If you haven't a handbook, try the manufacturer or repost under the Frigidaire section.

My oven door does not close tight

These hinges are now obsolete and you cannot get them anywhere. The poblem with this type of hinge is not with weak springs or anything like that, it is with the pivot pin in the door hinge. Follow these instructions and it will not cost you anything for the repair.
It is best to remove the oven from the housing. Remove both sides of the oven panels, you have to remove the top first, then the sides (remove about 20 screws all together). Support the bottom oven door first by tying a bit of string between the bottom and top oven door hand rails. This will stop the door falling down when you remove the springs. unhook the springs and the door will just slide out. (Use a loop of string attached to the back end of the spring to pull it from its holes.)
Dismantle the door by removing the screws. You will probably find that the the hinge pivot pins have come away from the U shaped hinge bracket. The secret is to make sure that these are fixed firm back into the bracket. What I did was to nip the U hinge bracket in a vice, (or use pliers) so that the pin will now protude slightly each side of the bracket. This allows more surface bearing area so the pin will not pull itself out of the hinge. To further make sure, I glued the ends of the pin with epoxy resin.
Then reassemble.
My door now feels like a new one even though it is 15 years old.
