Need to convert a Thermador cooktop from Natural to LP

Hello, I have a Thermador SGCS365RS 5 burner cooktop that I have purchased. I just found out after hooking it up and Installing it, that it is set for natural Gas. I have LP at the house. When I called Thermador, they told me that they cant help me, because this perticular cooktop is discontinued. Please help. I am either looking for a conversion kit or a way I can convert it over myself. Someone told me that I could sodier the existing jets closed and then redrill them, but they did not know what size of drill bit I should use.

Thank you for your time.

Thank you for that suggestion. the documentation is no where to be found. I Have downloaded the users manual online and it was far from helpful. I have also torn apart the cooktop box and the cooktop itself looking for a conversion kit. I could not find it either. I am concerned that I bought and installed a now useless cooktop. I find it hard to believe that therador does not make a conversion kit for this range. A friend of mine told me to look at the local mom and pop applience shops to see if anyone had an older model conversion kit, but I am concerned that it wont work on this model. Did they make a "universal" conversion kit?

try this link.
do not drill out the jets they will not work properly.
I would check all your documentation you may have the convention kit with your owners manual or it may be attached to the oven.

Why my thermador cooktop shuts itself off ?

Has it been smelling of gas recently? That usually indicates your lp gas cylinder is almost empty.

How do u change a gas stove from natural to lp?

Nearly every natural gas / LP operated appliance can be converted to work with the other fuel pretty easily. You will need to change the orifice in the burner & pilot. Contact your LP provider and they should be able to supply the correct parts / perform the labor for this job for you.

Good luck!

Intalled the 30" gas oven, converted to LP (both

Hello, thank you for posting. It sounds like you have done a little work to get the unit converted to LP. Make sure you didn't install the regulator upside down. Sometime you can get a defective regulator out of the box. Some of the regulators have the "N" for natural gas if so you need to convert this as well. I suggest you send a factory repair person just to double check on the unit. It well not cost anything to have them test out the unit if you feel the part is "broken".

Happy Holidays!
Please rate me "4 thumbs" if that was helpful.

Is this on LP or Natural gas? If LP was it converted to LP? In any event,The air shutter must be adjusted on the gas burner tube. You need more air. The valve orifice may also need adjusting.

LP is higher in pressure than NG, so regulator spring pressure has to be greater.
