Dell Inspiron E1405 Won't Turn On

When you press the power button the screen stays blank, the power light and data light turn solid green, the battery light stays off. It stays that way for about 5 seconds and then goes black.

First, try to turn on your laptop using battery charger(Adapter). It turns on, then it is the problem of your internal battery.

Second, it could be due to any firmware/BIOS problem.

For both the cases, it is better to get your notebook repaired from Dell Service Center.

Thank You

Do you have this problem when using only the battery or when also plug in to a power supply? because if that will be the case this can be a problem with the motherboard of Dell Inspiron E1405 already that may need a replacement....

Alternately, may I suggest trying to power it up just using the AC adapter without the battery. If it works, then it is a battery/charging circuitry problem. If it will not power up, then it is a motherboard problem.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

When i turn on my Dell Inspiron 2400 Desktop Computer why won`t it start.

Is the computer plugged in to a known good power source with a known good power cord? Also, make sure the power is fully seated on both ends. When you press the power button are you getting any indicator lights? The power button itself has an LED that will be either solid green, blinking green, solid amber, blinking amber, or off. Do you hear any beeps?

DELL INSPIRON M5030 frusturating issue (tried almost everything)

A) How did the Power Button Module get broken?

B) Error indicates losing data and unable to leave Hibernation Mode.

It's a long shot, but let's see if you can reset BIOS Settings back to default, without being able to see the BIOS Setup screen.....

Remove the AC adapter (Charger)
Remove the Battery.

Remove the RTC Battery. (Real Time Clock. Same as CMOS Battery, but with a new name)
Oh, excuse me.....Dell = Coin-Cell Battery

Power Button Module flat flex cable installed in motherboard connector, press the Power On button, hold it down for a count of 10 seconds. Let go.
Do this same procedure two more times.

Reinstall Coin-Cell Battery
Reassemble laptop.
Reinstall Battery, THEN AC adapter, and THEN plug AC adapter into power.

Let's see if we can revert the BIOS Setup settings, back to the factory default settings.

C) Dell refuses to help you since your warranty expired.
Not sticking up for Dell, but Really?

You're telling me they're not going to take your laptop, and fix it for a specific amount of money?

"No thank you Mr.Robertson, we're a laptop manufacturer, and money is of no consequence!"
We get by just knowing people out there like our laptops.
That, food stamps and the occasional barbecue Gates puts on at his place, gets us by."

Did you know I'm Brad Pitt? Angelina is in one of her moods again, so I come on here.

(Just trying to be funny)

D) LED lights 2 & 3 stay on

LED 2 is the Harddrive Activity LED.
Should stay solid as the harddrive isn't active

LED 3 is the Battery Status LED.
Solid amber indicates ON, or Standby.

Did you follow Anti-Static Procedures, during the Power Button Module replacement?

Plus, I'm willing to bet the Power Button Module, didn't come from Dell. Another reason they would not want to work on the laptop.
They can't guarantee the replacement part is good.
(They can, but there are too many liability issues)

Power Button Module being broken, is what I'm concentrating on at the moment.

This was the start of the problem. From it all other problems have issued.

The Power On switch is a Momentary Contact Switch.
The carbon contact Power On switch on that Power Button Module.

Was it broken so it stayed pressed to the on position?

Also need to know the full extent of damage caused by the Power Button Module being broken.
In my estimate it took a pretty hard hit in that area, to break that board.

Lastly for now; The Power Button Module has a FFC.
Flat Flex Cable.
Is it replaced back in the SAME position? Not flipped over?
It will go in either way. Right side up, or flipped over.

Please post back in a Comment.

Its going to sleep mode after 5 mins or going to standby if you are not working on it. you can on it by moving mouse or pressing any key on keyboard if it gone to sleep mode .You can press power button to make it on if its gone to standby. To disable this Right click on any empty space on desktop and go to screen saver tab and click on Power button . There in Power Scheme tab , make all options to NEVER and press Apply and OK.Now it will work fine. Options are turnoff monitor, turn off hard disk , System standby , system hibernates etc

Dell inspiron 1545 won't boot turn on start up

Unseat and reseat the memory in the laptop one stick at a time in each slot one at a time. Turn on the laptop after each reseat of memory.

If that doesn't work then take out the hard drive and then the dvd drive.

Turn the laptop on again and if you still can't get video on the screen then the motherboard is defective and would need to be replaced.
