Can't change from cable to ant.

The connection will depend on the stations in your area. Connect the antenna to the lowest RF (coaxial) connector labeled VHF/UHF if you want to watch only the low-power NTSC (analog) stations directly from your antenna. Use the Aux RF connector (upper-most RF connector) if you use the RF out from a digital (ATSC) to analog converter box and don't plan to watch the low-power stations in your area. (If you use the component video output of a converter box, ignore the RF connections.)

If you plan to watch the low-power stations and use a converter box, connect the antenna to the VHF/UHF connector. Connect a second coaxial cable to the To Converter RF connection and connect this to the Antenna In on the converter box. Take a third coaxial cable and connect this to the Antenna Out on the converter box and to the Aux RF cable input on the TV. Press the ANT button on the original remote to switch between the converter box set to channel 3 or 4 and the low-power stations. Remember to change channels with the converter box remote for the ATSC channels. Note: the converter box is used like a cable box with some scrambled channels.

I assume from your question that you have a cable subscription and that you have the cable plugged into the ANT input via a co-ax cable. The ANT input is for an antenna for over-the air signals. The channel up/down change the internal tuner up/down. For example, if your cable is set to channel 3, it will pull in the cable on channel 3, but then try to pull in over-the-air if you hit channel-up to channel 4.
It seems you need some kind of converter box from your cable company in order to change the cable channels, and then that converter box would plug into either the ANT input (and leave the tuner on 3) or into one of the other inputs like Component, HDMI, SVideo etc.

You should be able to connect the tv to a converter box. This is good for OTA signals to a TV with an NTSC tuner (coax) or composite video input. http://www.cobyusa.com/?p=prod&prod_num_id=205&pcat_id=2007#features-tab has the manual for the DTV102. Put the antenna coax cable to the converter box ANT In and then either the antenna out to the TV or the A/V (composite) out to the TV's composite in. If you use the RF connection, you will need to set the TV to channel 3 or 4 and set the switch on the converter box appropriately. For a composite video connection, you will need to change the input to AV1 (if there are several inputs). Depending on the TV, there may be a source or input button on the TV. For other models this is only on the remote. If you have the original remote, no problem. If you have a universal remote, make sure that you have a key that corresponds to the feature and that you found the code that lets the key work for your TV. (Not all universal remotes have the feature.)

However, you should get the best antenna that you can and have it pointed correctly to receive the stations. Digital signal doesn't have borderline reception. Try antennaweb.org or tvfool.com to check the stations and directions in your area. Antennaweb assumes an outdoor antenna but is very conservative in the channel list that it will indicate you can receive. Tvfool lists the channel reception depending on the antenna type. Tall trees and buildings can block the signal.

The US is now all digital for over-the-air (OTA) TV signals. If you have a digital TV converter, and have followed the instructions in the manual installing your indoor antenna and get no stations, you need a better antenna.

1 Find and disconnect the cable that is connected to the

ANT IN terminal on your cable box.

? This terminal might be labeled "ANT IN", "VHF IN" or

simply, "IN".

2 Connect this cable to a two-way splitter.

3 Connect an Antenna cable between an OUT terminal on

the splitter and the IN terminal on the cable box.

4 Connect an Antenna cable between the ANT OUT terminal

on the cable box and the B-IN terminal on the RF(A/B)
switch.

5 Connect another cable between the other OUT terminal on

the splitter and the A-IN terminal on the RF (A/B) switch.

6 Connect the last Antenna cable between the OUT terminal

on the RF (A/B) switch and the ANT IN (AIR/CABLE)

terminal on the back of the TV.

After you have made this connection, set the A/B switch to the

"A" position for normal viewing. Set the A/B switch to the "B"

position to view scrambled channels. (When you set the A/B

switch to "B", you will need to tune your TV to the cable box's
output channel, which is usually channel 3 or 4.)

First, you'll want to make sure that her antenna has a coaxial cable (one of the thick round ones) coming from the antenna. Some older ones have a flat piece of plastic with two wires sticking out. These are less efficient, but if you have one, use a balun (a vhf-uhf matching transformer) to change to coax. You can google "balun" if you don't know what one looks like. Next, you'll need a digital converter box (if you don't have one already). Connect one end of the coax cable to the antenna (or balun) and the other to the jack on the converter box labeled "ant. in." Finally, using another coax cable, connect one end to the jack on the converter box labeled "to tv" and the other end to the jack on the TV labeled "ant. in." Finally, depending on your converter box, you will probably need to "scan " for tv channels. Follow the setup instructions with the converter box to do this. Possibly but that depends on your antenna. What you will need to do first is change your TV's input selection from cable to ant. Should be in your menu.

It took some time, but I finally have this figured it out so everything works.

I have the same setup, but I had one additional piece to the puzzle that I had to figure out. I have an older TV and use and antenna, but had to buy an Audio/Video RF Modulator a couple of years ago to use my VCR & DVD player with the old setup.

Get yourself an Audio/Vido RF Modulator (you can pick one up for about $20-30).
Connect the TV to the RF Modulator.
You should have 2 connectors for your antenna. Connect one to the converter "To Ant" and the other to the RF Modulator.
Connect the convertor A/V cable to "IN" on your VCR.
Connect the cable from converter "To TV (RF)" to "UHF/VHF from Ant" on VCR.
Connect the VCR "OUT" cable to the RF Modulator.
Connect DVD A/V cables to A/V input on VCR.

Your TV should be set to Channel 3 (or 4, depending on your setup) and depending on your "input" connections, you should be able to view vidoes from VCR like this and DVD by changing the input (the button should be on your VCR or other remote). For ex. my input changes on my VCR from channels, to L1 & L2. My converter & VCR play on L1 and DVD's play when I change it to L2.

Now, I just have to figure out how to add the converter box to my universal remote. :)

When the VCR is "off" the converter signal should go right through the box, which you say it does. Then, when you turn the VCR "on" the picture disappears. That, so far, how it should be. To get your picture back while the VCR is "on" you must set the VCR to "receive" channel 3, and use your new converter box to change channels...accordianman

The antenna connects to the ant jack on the digital converter box. The cable you are describing goes from the tv jack on the box to the ant jack on the tv. If this does not work we will need more info. Hope this helps.
