Have you tried uninstalling the ASUS Virtual Webcam software? If you do
that, then you should only have the Laptop Integrated webcam option. I
have an ASUS and I've never used or installed that software when I
reloaded my machine.

Is th webcam working in the ASUS supplied software? Is it enabled in Device Manager? Maybe it's not the webcam? In what? Has it work in the software before? Have you updated the software? Have you open the settings in the software? Have you tried other versions of the software?
In what? the Asus supplied software? I don't know what software Asus has , maybe CyberLink? Look in All Programs, open software, does it see the webcam, in settings? You can open Device Manager, Imaging Devices, Is it listed? enabled? Webcam drivers can be found here:http://www.asus.com/Notebooks/Multimedia_Entertainment/N73Jq/#download
You can download the WEBcam and device drivers from ASUS WEB site.Select your model motherboard/computer/laptop, and make sure you select driversthat matches your Windows operating system. Please click on this link to theirWEB support site : -http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
Go to Start - Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Device Manager - Imaging Devices and enable the Webcam (Right-Click on the device and click enable)
If this does not solve your problem, go to the Asus Website and download the newest drivers and software for the webcam Install the software and you should be in business. Asus support can be found at the link below.
webcams dont have mics...the mics are built into the bezel around the screen and are controlled by the sound drivers. You have to use the webcam software to link the sound drivers to your webcam software so the two work together when you are on video messaging. Check into the webcam software documentation. I know that when I was setting up my webcam in Gmail, it was linked to the sound drivers automatically.
