I close my tray with a game in it my xbox would read any game my xbox said open tray

I had the same problem with one of my games. It's probably just not reading the disk because of scratches or other damage. If it happens with every game you try then it's a problem with the sensor in the disk tray.

My x box 360 keeps saying open tray when a game is in there i open it and it says reading then i keep doing it and it does the same thing

I'll assume you're using xbox 360 games.
The disk is probably scratched.
Go clean it.
PS: Don't rub toothpaste into the scratches, someone did that to one of my games when he went to clean it. Only made it worse.

My console is saying open tray, it will not read the disc. what do i do?

The problem is that either your disk is scratched to the point where it does not even recognize its there (shouldnt be the problem for people who treat their games good) or the dvd drive is breaking/broken...

This happened to me about 3 months ago and it cost 70 dollars for my local play n trade to fix it.

Also there is nothing I really know of that could stop this from happening but what happens is after a certain amount of use the laser eye got stuck and now it most likely isn't going to fix itself.
Really sorry it happened to you but it's a common problem that happens with ALOT of xbox360's.

When this happened to me my dvd drive steadily got worse and then eventually it got to the point where if i put my ear to it while it was reading the disk it sounded like absolutely nothing was happening in there and then it would say open tray... That was odd because most people hear loud rumbling when this happens to them.

My recommendation is take it to game-stop (or playntrade) and ask them how much it would cost for you to fix it, if your willing to pay their price then it should take about 2-3 weeks

During games the console freezes in different parts. it happens in different games and i have to wait for it to load the landscape before i can play again

Sounds like either a scratched disk or an overheat. Put your PS2 in a well aired out area where it can breath. Check to make sure your disks aren't severely scratched either

Ps3 screen freezes but sound still works

if this happens for more than one game, upgrade the software to 3.01 since 3.0 firmware had some issues.
if this happens only in one or few games, makesure that the disk is not scratched...
try upgrading to 3.01 and see if that works.

360 say's "Open Tray" and dont read any disks!

The drive is damaged and needs to be replaced. YOu can get a replacement on ebay fairly cheap.
If you want a ps3 then that is up to you, but they also have their fair share of problems, and are not nearly as friendly to service.

Picture freeze with lines horz.

Clean the contacts where the A/V cable connects to the back. If it still freeze then it would be hardware problem with the video card. Unless the disk is scratched bad and it creates a skip that will freeze the picture

My xbox 360 keeps freezing at the same time.

It could either be a corrupted save file (meaning you're going to have to start with a new garden), or there's a scratch on the disk bad enough to make the game files unreadable (meaning your garden should be fine, but the game's files can't be read from the disk).

Examine the disk first, and if there are any serious scratches, try to fix them (Disk Doctor, toothpaste, etc...). If that doesn't work, make a separate garden and just toy around with it. If that one works, but the original doesn't, then your save file is probably corrupted and is un-usable.

Scratching disks

Microsoft have changed the mould for the dvd trays (or the suppliers have changed them at least) so that on the latest editions of the 360 it does not scratch them as much as it used to. the previous person is right. what happens is that when the disc is being read from it will spin very very fast and one slight knock on the older 360's would produce a ring right around the 360. this happens when the game disc wobbles and touches the moulding on the dvd tray.

i would try not to move the console while its on, wait at least 30 seconds before moving the console after you turn it off.
if you have a wired pad this can make things worse as everything you pull the pad it can make the disc wobble and cause this problem.

a friend of min stopped this happening by getting a thin enough peice of soft foam and gluing it onto the tray so that when the discs did wobble they would skim the soft rubber and not the hard mouldings.

im also guessing its a samsung drive you have because the earlier ones were really bad for this.

hope it helps a bit.
