Question about GE 32GT660 32" TV
I WAS WATCHING A GAME ONE DAY ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE TV STARTING CHANGING CHANNELS. THE SET HAD BEEN SET ON CHANNEL 3 BECAUSE I WAS WATCHING CABLE. WHEN I TURNED THE CHANNEL BACK TO 3 IT STAYED FOR A FEW MINUTES AND STARTED CHANGING ON ITS OWN AGAIN. THIS PROBLEM GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORST. IT GOT TO THE POINT WHERE IT WOULDN'T STAY ON CHANNEL 3 OR ANY OTHER CHANNEL AT ALL. IT CONTINUED TO WORSEN TO THE POINT WHERE THE UP / DOWN BUTTON CEASED TO WORK PROPERLY. THE CHANNELS ONLY CYCLE DOWN. AT ONE POINT YOU COULD CHANGE THE CHANNEL BACK BY PRESSING THE UP BOTTON. NOW WHEN YOU TRY THAT THE CHANEL DISPLAY ONLY FLICKERS BETWEEN NUMBERS AND ONCE THE BUTTON IS LET GO, IT CONTINUES TO CYCLE DOWNWARD. IF THE CHANNEL UP BOTTOM IS PRESSED FIRMLY AND HELD, THE CHANNELS WILL GO UP, BUT AS SOON AS THE BUTTON IS LET LOOSE, THE CHANNELS START CYCLING DOWN AGAIN. NOW THE VOLUME BUTTON SEEMS TO BE GOING AS WELL AS THE MENU BUTTOM. WHAT DO YOU THINK THIS IS ANS HOW MUCH ON AVG. SHOULD IT COST TO REPAIR?
I have the same problem, except that it would turn on by itself and then start changing channels. I had a can of compressed air and sprayed the button areas to see if there were sticking. It worked for a coupe of days, then started happening again. So I searched the web and found a response to a question someone else posted and the ensuing reply "most likely you have one of 2 things going on one is the foam between the buttons and the switches or you may have a switch getting leaky and would need replaced" Looks like I may have to taking the cover off and find some type of electronic cleaner, or replace the buttons. I find it odd that I got hits for the same issue with the same model. hhhhmmmmm?
