Samsung txe2745 just quit working -- has an internal "clicking" like a relay trying to close

Samsung 27" TV #txe2745 just quit working -- has an internal "clicking" like a relay trying to close. This sounds similar to the case posted yesterday. This is how I found your site using a Google search. Perhaps the Samsung TVs have a built in "drop dead date"? Opened the box ... very dusty in there ... Will try to Vacuum out the inside in hopes of removing the problem .... Box built in 3/1997 ... old age? Regards; MikeB

First of all greetings from Belize mike your set is an old set but you can still get some life out of it please be inform that going into a tv could cause you self injury if you are not qualified to handle an electronics set.the problem with your set is in the power supply there is a 10mf cap situated in the power supply just close a transistor replace it along with power requlator and associated diodes.that will solve your problem.but make checks in the power supply.if you cannot do it yourself take the set to tech.good luck.

Partial Cable

Hi, Possibly you have to run steup again in the Samsumng TV using your remote, Look for Channel setup, memory, add or search. It would also help you if you would confirm whether it is on cable, air or std. Hope this give you some idea(s). Pls post/comment back should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.

there is a little 100mic 25 volt capacitor in the power supply, it is the start up capacitor. Most likely is your problem.

Toshiba 27A62

I do not know, but several people have said that Toshiba TVs make a clicking noise on switch on, this could be a relay, and not arcing. A power up circuit operates the relay. So two things could be going wrong. 1) The power up circuit input voltage is too low or weak to fully operate the relay, so the contacts do not close. Probably a faulty electrolytic capacitor. 2) The relay has bad contacts. Relays have become so miniature that you will probably find it is only slightly larger than an integrated circuit, and soldered on the circuit board. The long rest may allow a bad connection to oxidise due to dampness, and so conduct more, or allow a capacitor to recover some lost capacitance. If you know these parts of the circuit, you need a normal digital meter and a capacitance meter.
