Question about Samsung LN-S3251D 32 in. LCD HDTV

No video Remote works OK with the TV - sound and channel selection are OK. No video, except backlight is present. It would appear the main board has the problem, and if so is the current repair technique to replace the board?

The main board does not show any physically defective filters and the input power to the board is OK - are boards rebuilt like the old Quasar modules or is the alternative board replacement. I would like to get pricing and availability from some source and would appreciate suggestions on who to contact.

I would appreciate assistance in locating on-line sources for new or rebuilt boards.

Do not replace the main board!

If there is no raster, but the TV is not responding to the remote, it is FOR SURE not the digital board.

The TV must be tested by a technician following determined troubleshooting diagrams.

Faults that can give you No raster, but Channel selection working:

1 You have no raster, but you see the display menu on screen.

If you are using an external receiver check cables.

LCD controller board: see here the part.

Good luck with your repair.

The most common problem is the power relay switch with lcd tv's, i replaced mine with ease but other tv's i have worked on the problem has been the whole board, look for semiconductor that looks to have blown out, also chech the capacitors to make sure they are not swollen or melted to the board, there is large chance that if something has blown it has taken some other part out with it.
Replacing the whole board can be very expensive and could cost more than the TV itself.

Disregard the previous information supplied to you. If you have no on screen display or menu, then yes the only option is board replacement. You can look here for the part you need:

Yes, u r right .its the problem on your main board.and it needs to be checked before replacing the board.sometimes the whole board is not faulty, only some electrical components go faulty.it needs to be checked with multimeter and can be easily replaced by soldering iron.
thanks.

If you can hear the audio, there should be video too; because, without video, the audio will be muted. I assume something wrong with the LVDS cable. Check it. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.

Do I replace the backlight itself, or the controller board or the main board in the TV?

I have the same problem. Most everything I can find says to replace the inverter board (which are pretty cheap) first. I got one on eBay for 10.49 with free shipping. Changing the inverter didn't work for mine but hope it helps you!

VX37L Screen Suddenly Went Blank, Now No Image, Sound Only on Cable Input, VIZIO Logo Lights Up

Hello,
turn on the set, grab a bright flash light and dim the lights in the room. Shine the flash light on the screen, if you see a faint picture on the screen, you are dealing with a backlight problem. There are several things that can cause this. One, a bad backlight inverter, two, faulty 24vdc power supply, three, bad main board, or a bad faulty backlamp.

Im having similar problem and with my limited knowledge of lcd tvs and the voltages ALL being good except the pwr on or sw on voltage from the main board to the power supply which tells it to switch everything on Im guessing that something is going wrong on the main board. In the condition where it freezes it (the power on V) which switches everything on i get varied voltages such as 2.5 or 3 or (the normal 5v) and then when nothing powers up (blank screen) i read 0v on pwr on voltage but all my other voltages are corect (24v to inverter, 12 v to main board, 5v, etc.) Im guessing from researching this is that there is in improper voltage somewhere in the main board circuit. I have been unable to find it so i may order another board and post back.

Cant get cable tv

Hello
First connect the cable to its cable input socket at rear.
Turn the tV On and enter its Menu option window. Press UP or DN button on the remote control to select 'Cable'. Selecte EZ scan [channel search]. The TV must scan for all available channels, and will stop after all the channels has been stored in its memory. You have to wait till the search function stops; no other functions with remote cannot be done, and the set will not respond any external command, either by remote control or by its front panel control, except the mains power ON/OFF switch will work. OK.

My toshiba lcd tv has a black screen i have no picture or sound

Hello,

There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc. Look for 5vdc, 12vdc, and 24dvc.if otherwise TURN THE TV OFF AT THE MAINS. This will reset it to default. Wait 1 minute at least.

- TURN TV ON. Ensure you have sound so you know the video/audio feed is OK.

- PRESS THE TIMER BUTTON ON THE REMOTE
you should now have picture or at least response from the screen indicating what channel it is on.

I hope this will help to solve the problem..

Hello, it sounds like your inverter board is goin out on the set, when you change channels if you notice on almost any TV the screen goes dark and the new channel appears, it sounds like you are not getting enough power out of the inverter board to power up the backlight enough to come on. This is why the sound remains because everything else works fine and the sound is connected to the main board.
