Question about Lite On LVW-5005 DVD Recorder
It reads open on the display but doesn't open.
The second one doesn't always stay closed when I change a DVR and start reading the disc. Can anybody help me or tell me where to get it fixed.
I use mostly DVR's that are rewritable +RW.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: DVD Recoder trouble
I have the LVW 5005 and was having a similar problem. Unplugged it tore it apart (looking if anything looked physically wrong) plugged it back in and it worked (and still is). Try unplugging it, letting is sit for 1/2 hour and plugging it back in. Might get lucky.

you must use the proper recording disc for formatting compatability of your unit. i.e. r+/r- confer with owner manual for recommended discs mch

Use your knuckles to knock on top of cabinet just above disc tray door while at the same time pressing open button,99% of the time disc tray will open. The problem you have is caused by a worn out belt drive or the tray is out of alignment. The disc tray belts only cost $2,when tray is open you can see the minature belt that controls door to the right.Use twizzers to remove and replace.Belt size 1.9
