Icemaker is not working, and the jnfared sensor is blinking even if the switch is on or off. Do not hear the water dispensing into the area where it can produce ice.

We had the same problem. There are 2 sensors on either side of the door, the one that is blinking and the receivor on the other side of the ice bucket. We ordered a new sensor from www.appliancepartspros.com -part #4389102. It came in at 2 days and was really easy to fix. Of course, there is a black rubber tube that adds water into the ice maker from the top of the fridge that froze over. Once we defrosted that, our icemaker worked again.

Icemaker starts then stops

The drop sensor is faulty, fooling the machine that the ice has harvested so it restarts. Eventually you will just have a solid block of ice. Replace sensor (magnetic reed switch)

Ice maker stopped working

The laser , is supposed to blink . This laser , tells the icemaker to stop making ice , when the bin is full . Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the icemaker . If it doesn't dump the cubes into the bin , the icemaker is bad . Or , if there is ice in the bin , which hasn't dumped , the icemaker is bad . If the icemaker dumps the ice ( from water pour ) , then look above the fill cup , and see if the black fill tube is frozen . If so , then replace the water valve and turn the freezer temp down slightly . It will take several days for this fill line inside freezer to thaw . If icemaker dumps , and black tube NOT frozen , replace the water valve . The valve , is where the wall water line connects to on the refrig .

I have a Whirlpool refrige. side by side and the ice maker has stopped working. The infrared light keeps blinking. I have unplugged it a couple of times as well as turned the infrared off. Any advice?

Ask maker is not working - water is getting to water dispenser but not to ice maker. i am not sure what the infared does in the freezer

Pour about 1/2 cup of water into the icemaker and so if it dumps after freezing . If so , then watervalve or frozen water line in top of freezer is the problem .Squeeze the black fill tube to see if frozen . If ice stays in the ice maker , then the icemaker is the problem . The infra red is an electric eye which cuts the icemaker off when the bin is full .

Whirlpool icemaker

Your unit has infered sensors on the frezzer left and right walls. There is a diagnostic test sheet brown in color in your kick plate. All you have to do is open frezzer door look on the right sensor it should blink twice followed by a 1-2 sec delay,if that is good press in flapper door on right sensor do not block path of infered beam you will not see a beam its invisable.Once you hold in flapper on right sensor the led should be solid. If solid optics are good if not solid led replace optic sensors

Icemaker makes ice, but doesn't dump it.

If you have a steady blinking light when you open the door then the sensor is working. I these cases the problem is usually in a bad motor or thermostat in the icemaker. If you need I can give you instructions on how to change these parts.

It sounds like you have covered all the primary troubleshooting checks. There is only one thing I can think of at this point.
Check the voltage coming to the water valve during the icemaker cycle. The power to the valve is decreased by the resistence of the icemaker heater from 120 volts down to about 108 volts. It is not uncommon to have a valve that will open when you put 120 volts to it, as you do when you switch solenoids, but not open at the decreased voltage when it goes through the icemaker circuit.
If you are getting voltage to the valve when it cycles, and you know for sure the water line to the icemaker is clear, then you will need to replace the valve.
Post back and let me know what you find.
