Getting around the administrator passwords to login.
Someone gave me a laptop with win2000 pro loaded on it but forgot what the login passwords are. How can I get around this password or create a new one to use this laptop?
Re: Getting around the administrator passwords to login.
You can get software off the web that will get admin passwords out of systems.

Login as Administrator. Try with no password (load safe mode if you don't see Administrator). Press F8 during boot to access Safe Mode. XP only. Login as other user (if other user is available) and manage users. Must be an administrator. Reformat computer. Use 3rd party software to remove password. Like http://www.top-password.com/reset-windows-password.html Free software option would be Hirens Boot CD. This one is command prompt only. http://www.hirensbootcd.org/ Must follow instructions exactly.

Start up in safe mode (hold F8 at startup) and login as administrator.
Go to start menu, settings or control panels, users and remove the password on the account you are wanting to access..
Then restart.
Have your HP
laptop login password forgotten? Do you have another administrator? Have you created
Windows password reset disk on your HP computer when it is available? Or
whether you have installation CD?
If you have
administrator, just change HP login account to this administrator and access HP
computer with it. At this time, no matter which account, you can easily change
or remove its password on Control Panel.
If you have
password reset disk, on Windows login screen after you type incorrect password,
there will be a message "Reset Password" prompting you to reset forgotten
Windows password with reset disk. Just follow password reset wizard to do.
If you have
installation CD, it will help you to restore HP computer or repair computer.
But it is still dangerous for us to use it because it will delete some
important data on your computer.
In consideration
of data safe on computer, Windows Password
Genius provides a safe Windows password reset environment WinPE. With it
and in such password recovery environment, you will don't need to worry about data
lost or damaged.
