    I also have trouble with another LVW 5005 recorder that doesn't stay closed and start reading the DVR it opens again and I have to reclose .

  • rapound Nov 14, 2008

    This is a Liteon 5005 recorder and I have used it a lot but now it doesn't wnat to open even tho' the front says open, it sounds like it is trying to do something but it doesn't open. I have even tried prying a little to see if that would help. nothing. I have another one of the same model and kind that doesn't always want to stay closed and start reading the DVR.

Hi,

The Liteon LVW 5005, to my knowledge, has no pinhole access to manually open. Some causes of failure to open (and even constant opening/closing) could be:

  • an over stretched or broken belt (most likely);
  • the underneath tray guide needs lubrication (likely);
  • the eject motor needs lubrication (rarely);
  • insufficient power supply (common depending on electrical system).
Whatever the cause, the unit has to be opened up. Instructions to open the unit and manually eject the tray is discussed here. Additionally, some pointers could also be gleamed such as improving the power supply, modifications in drilling a small hole for future manual eject.

Incidentally, should for some reason, the LVW 5005 would no longer be reading/writing, it is possible to replace the drive mechanism alone with a Liteon SHW-160P6S as proposed here.

Additionally, this page details a few more maintenance and repair procedures complementary to a Liteon LVW 5005.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

If the simpler steps mentioned here do not work, then it could indicate a mechanical or circuit problem. In this case, i would recommend simply buying a new unit than paying to repair it. It would work out cheaper for you..

The gears of the one that will not open may be jammed from a object is not supposed to reach the gears. Try turning it upside down, plugging it up, turning it on, and pressing the eject button and see if the door opens. If not, try tapping it under the place where it is supposed to eject as you press the eject button with it still upside down and see if that lets it open. If not, you may have a broken gear that will not allow it to open, but since you say you here try to open, it is most likely jammed. If you still can not get it to open, you might have to open the whole dvd player and see if you can find the jam yourself.
For the second one, try pressing and holdig the front of it inwards closed for a few while it tries to load and see if that make any difference. If not, you may need a new "door closed" sensor to tell it the door is closed.

Look closer at the drive's face and locate a small hole. Use anything that will fit, a pin. That will eject the tray.

It may require that you open it up and manipulate the gears to open it. It may just have a belt that is slipping.

    For your second DVD recorder:

    There should be a switch that the tray hits to detect that the tray is closed, if the switch is bad or if it has a broken wire for the switch, it will keep opening back up again because it doesn't detect that the tray has closed.

    there r gears which get stuck inside and because of that the door gets jammed and could not open.unplug the device few minutes and as u on the unit quickly press the open button.little bit of the dvd door gets opened just pull it slowly outside.

  • fixyy Nov 14, 2008

    the button on the front pannel through which you can open the door is slightly pressed inside and due to this it becomes open as u close it.try checking that eject button.

    both the dvds needs to be opened and serviced.as its not a major problem.just have to be opened and cleaned internally.to make it clear.thanks

    Remove the cover of LVW and access the DVD assy,unscrew the 4 screws holding the DVD assy to the LVW bottom,remove the top and bottom shield (also 4 screws)and remove the top black plastic cover (4 screws).You will access the DVD spindle.Remove the disk if you still have a disk stuck inside.Visually check the spindle sticky rubber ring,most likely some sticky material migrated on top of the rubber ring and your DVD was stuck on it. Clean the best you can with a cleaner and a non lint cloth. use a cleaner/degreaser for electronics.DO NOT POWER your LVW BEFORE reinstalling the black plastic cover.There is a laser inside !!! You may now try and if the drawer opens and closes, reassemble everything opposite way you disassembled.

    thanks.

The tray won't open. There is a disk in the tray and I was able to play it back. But, when I tried to eject the disk, the tray woudn't open.

something like this is a physical problem. you should contact the manufacturer to see if there is a manual eject button and if not you will have to take it apart to get the disk.

Tray will not open

hi had the same problem, unscrew the top off from panel and just like a computer burner there is a button on the front of the burner on the inside independent of the eject button, that is away from the actual eject button. my friend drilled a small hole on the front near the burner from the outside and i stick an allen key through they hole and the tray will come open, not sure why the eject buttons are dodgy, but this should work. and do u know where i can get a replacement remote or which universal contol will work?
