Question about Dyson DC14 All floors Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

1 Answer

Has my Dyson lost suction??

I have a upright DC14 and it just doesn't seem to pick up as well as it used to. I've checked all the feeder lines and nothing seems to be plugged. I know I did a no-no and sucked up some drywall dust while we were remodeling, but since then I've cleaned the blue lifetime filter and used an air hose to blow out the canister to remove all the dust. Maybe it's my imagination, but it just doesn't seem to vacuum as well as it used to. Is there a possiblity I ruined the lifetime filter?

My Dyson is about 3 years old, it won't even pick up a loose thread on top of the floor. It has very little suction left in it. What could be wrong? I have emptied the cannister, but have never replaced any parts. Is there something I should be doing?

I have the same problem. Very little suction left and no obvious blockages. Any solutions??

I'm the one with the original question...

I replaced my entire filter blew everything out with an air compressor and cleaned the canister in the bathtub with a toothbrush and now it works great!

How do I reset the brush bar please

Hi there,

If your DC14's brushbar doesn't seem to be rotating as usual, please follow the steps shown in our online support guide to make sure everything is correct with the machine:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=668&product=DC14-ALLFLOORS_US

Please note, the brushbar will never rotate when the cleaner is standing in the upright position, or if you've set the brush control to 'Hard floors' instead of 'Carpets'.

I hope this helps - if you'd like any further assistance or advice, please call us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Dyson DC14 Animal: Loses suction when in the upright postion and I am using the wand. I have cleaned the top spongy filter. It sort of 'blows' out of the top of the cylinder if that makes sens

Hi Sharon,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC14. If the machine doesn't seem to be picking up as well as usual through the wand, this may be due to a blockage in the wand, hose or U-bend. The easiest way to check for this is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

http://support.dyson.co.uk/support/dc14/dc14-origin-iron/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/wand-suction

Although I note you've cleaned the filter, you might want to check you've washed it as shown in the video below - in normal use, this should be done at least once every 3-6 months. Wash both parts of the filter in cold water without detergent, and allow at least 12 hours for it to dry before replacing it.

This should resolve your issue, but for any further assistance, please call us free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US), so we can help.

Best wishes,

Does not seem to adjust to different carpet sizes
