How make my dvd player play movies in color

Dear Laysia,

Maybe your DVD player and your TV are not set for the same TV transmission system. The TV system in U.S. is NTSC. TV systems in some countries in South America and Europe are of the PAL type. You have to check in the manual for your DVD and your TV which TV systems they work with . many of them are multisystem, but you have to check in their menu or settings if BOTH are set to AUTO or to the same TV transmission system.

Hope it helps!

Best regards,

Miguel Luiz Martins

Has really slowed down dubbing - and disc is heated when removed, after only one dubbing and finalizing.

The speed of dubbing depends on the max writing speed of the disc used.
A disc always gets warm after using, the laser gets verry hot.

After 10 min. of play time the dvd stops working

This is most likely a problem with the power supply to the drive motor. A component is breaking down and the supply voltage is dropping below operational levels after warming up.This is a problem that needs service in a service center or someone who is a experienced electronic technician to take apart the unit and test it for bad components.Hope this help you with your problems.

-- Watch out, the screen still in blank, just feel it right ok?

- Down 2x -- Initial Setting
- Menu / Ok (the circle button)

- Down -- Video Out
- Menu / Ok

- Down -- Component Out
- Menu / Ok

- Down -- It will choose Interlace, it will saved the day :-)

DVD must be overheating

General failure when units warm / hot in high humidity environments. Units operate normally once cold, failure only occurs occasionally then seems OK but when warm fails again
Many PCB's/components have contamination which will manifest themselves in warm and humid environments, so once unit is warm then electrical failure occurs. Clean circuit first in solvent/water combination and retest unit. Failure should dissapear. If corrosion found on joints then reheat with soldering iron which you may see joints bubble then clean PCB thoroughly. Best to soak in cleaner then wipe around with lint free wipe especially around powered components. NOTE contamination is typically hygroscopic and will attract moisture if particularly bad will electromigrate if not too bad then poor SIR Surface Insulation Resistance (occasional unexplained failure) Could go on for long time but this is only the start! Does this sound familiar to anybody ??

Won't spin DVD - says OPEN (top right) on TV screen

Just got a coby dvd-207 for free due to this problem, fix takes about 5 minutes.

Tools needed:
1 small philips screwdriver
1 toothpick
1 bottle of rid-ox, deoxit, or similar contact cleaner and restorer

1) remove the two rubber feet on bottom of case that have arrows pointing at them
2) remove 6 screws that have arrows pointing at them
3) carefully open case, there are wires connecting both halves, leave them connected
4) press open button, so that the disc receptacle is open
5) look for a gear on the inside near the back of the case that is connected to the dvd door, there should be a cheap reed switch mounted near it
6) clean the cheap reed switch with a toothpick dipped in rid-ox/deoxit/etc
7) re-assemble, plug it in, and watch movies for another few months until the reed switch decides to stop working again

The next time it goes out, i am just going to cut the two wires to the switch and either cross them over or install a mini-toggle switch on the side of the case..
