Question about Whirlpool Gold 24 in. Built-In Dishwasher Dishwasher
Model #GU98OSCGQ2. It cycles through, but with long delays between cycles. When the "clean" light goes on, there's still water in the bottom of the tub and the dishes are not clean. When I push "Cancel/drain", a motor goes on and it sounds like it might be draining, but when you open and check, there is still water in the bottom. A service technician was here this morning, he checked the drain hose under the dishwasher, took a white, plastic thing out and cleaned it, said THAT was the problem and left. Unfortunately, he didn't seem to know much about fixing dishwashers and was on the phone with his supervisor. It still is having the same problem. Any ideas? At least if they send HIM back to me again, I can point him in the right direction. Thanks for ANY help you can give me!
Sounds to me like a drain pump restriction or failure. let me know if this helps.

Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. First make sure that the drain is not clogged and remove clogs if present. If no visible lint is present then remove the lower front access panel to check the drain filter and drain pump for any clogs, you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump completely. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller & clean the chopper assembly. Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.
