Question about Xerox WorkCentre XD130DF Laser Printer

1 Answer

Workcenter XD130df - Grinding noise.

I recently acquired the above mentioned printer. It had a very bad accordion jam just past the heating element that I had to remove piece by piece. The printer powers up but has a sound like grinding plastic gears. It copies however the bottom of the image is riding up about an inch. I am fairly sure that something needs to be replaced, just not sure what.

Bad heat roll drive gear. The gear is $15 but you probably should replace the fuser. Look up on Google a business called "the parts drop" .. call and talk to Britt about what you need. He will get you set up. It is the fuser. Very common problem.

My hp laserjet m1522nf makes a grinding noise and then says add paper' it also makes the same noise when i shut it down and power it up again ... does this mean the printer is garbage?

it could be a bad toner cartridge
try replacing each toner cartridge one by one to see if grinding gear noise goes away.
Or
it could be jammed paper somewhere inside the printer

Grinding noise

Hi Anonymous

I trust you are well

If you hear a grinding noise it might be the gear wheel in the printer that is stripped or possibly a paper jam.

Hope this helps

Kind regards

The dishwasher is starting to make a loud grinding noise. Could it be the pump or the arms not spinning? It has always made a lot of noise, but is now getting much more louder.

Sharp AL1642 CS Copier Grinding noise and Paper Jams

Loud clacking sound, jamming in fuser ? sounds like the gear that turns the fuser are bad and not meshing together,
accordion jam is the fingers or claws that ride on the fuser roller are probably worn out ( these can be replaced usually 3-5 ).

You can buy the parts and replace them yourself if a handy person, not that difficult.

Major problems when trying to print, Jamming alot & grinding noise

If the paper is an accordion type jam, you should replace the 4 small rollers, the upper feed roller, the upper feed guide, and the lower rollers. all of these are listed on hp's part surfer website.
RF5-0425-040cn, RF5-0434-000cn, RF5-0432-000cn, and RF5-0438-000cn respectively. Basically, get a new exit output assembly part number RG5-0456-180cn.
Does this help?

More than likely you have a bad fuser gear. It will break teeth, crack and not drive or the tab that inserts on the roller to drive it has snapped.
You have to remove the back cover to unplug the fuser then there are 2 screws that hold it into the frame.
The gear is on the right side of the fuser.
The price of the gear is less then 20 dollars.

Here is a link to a reputable parts source.

Ask for Britt if you call. This is not me. Nor where I work. Just a reliable source.

Lexmark C510 Laser Printer- Grinding Sound on startup and while printing

Thank you Krissy! I had the same problem with the horrible grinding noise.

I took out all of the toners and the photo developer and noticed that my Blue toner was leaking all over. After reading your post, I tried replacing the toner. It worked!!! No more noise - and no more mess!

Paper transport does not work; terrible grinding noise

I took mine apart from the back and put it back together and it worked. It is probably due to moving it and the bottom paper tray alignment gets out of whack. I inspected all of the gear train and didn't find any worn or missing teeth. I suspect a paper jam started it and the user turned the printer around to open the back door. Since the handles are on the printer the tray doesn't move with it which allows it to separate and possibly jam a pickup drive gear.
