Question about Mitsubishi VS-45609 TV

1 Answer

Mitsu WS48511 green curves up at bottom, down at top

It appears that the green channel (only) curves away from the top and bottom of the screen - almost like a parabola. Seems like a convergence amp (guess), but I have no idea where to start.

I took two photos to better-define the issue, which may be seen at
http://www.nulspace.com/pics/mitsu01.JPG
and

Sorry in advance for all the reflection clutter in the screen - I've had to move the tv out onto the deck (orders from the missus).

Thanks for any and all suggestions!

Excellent - thanks for your help. I assume these are the STK392-042 parts that I see discussed everywhere? Also assuming the resistors will show visible signs of damage (overheating, etc.) to help me know which ones to go after?

    Thanks again...

Your going to need to get new convergence IC's to correct this problem and there may be some resistors to replace on the IC's circuit as well , most likely
hope this info is worth a fixya and if you need more help I'll be happy to help

you can type in your STK #'s at this site to see the equivalent

on the next page will be the PDF file to open and look at its specs. (just click on the PDF box for it)

    http://nte01.nteinc.com/nte/NTExRefSemiP...$$Search?OpenForm

( in the box just type in stk and the numbers and click search )

as for the resistors you will need to check them for low value as they all will not show that browning on the board, most likely in your case you wil not see that either , so testing the resistors will need to be done , but if you do find one like that then most likely there will be other low valued resistors also to replace , the safe value range is as this ( 10% above or below said value ) ( best range 5% above or below said value )

but there may not be any bad resistors , just bad stk

if you run into any problems , just ask me and I'll help

Are you by any chance using Closed Caption?
The channels that do appear are they full screen?
How about what the picture is on a DVD through the Video inputs.?

You should have some adjustment for Kine bias and pincushioning. Look for these in settings and readjust the screen

Black box when tv is on and going through channels

This worked on my tv...give it a try:

go into your menu and find closed caption, someone has accidently set the closed caption mode to text, when the on screen display of channel or volume goes away the box appears. turn off the closed caption feature or switch it to something other than "text" mode, and your box will go away.

Try and turn off the closed captioning. I had the same problem and it turned out that the closed captioning was on t1 instead of OFF. Hope this helps!!!!

Did you use the Automatica Convergence to try and straighten it out? If that does not help, you can manually adjust the convergence.

Green horizontal lines across screen

try adjusting the green screen control. remove the front bottom panel of the tv by removing any screws holding it in place. gently pull of the front panel, there are gromets holding it in place, you will be able to gently remove the front, just make sure you get all those screws. now reove the small wodden or plastioc panel. now you will see the screen/focus assy. check to see of the screen controls are the top 3 or bottom 3. adjusted the center screen it's the green one, the other 2 are the red & blue. it is best to adjust in a dark room where the lines will show up easier. good luck
