Brother PC-8200 Timing Errors

Hi,

I have TWO brother PC-8200's that both appear to have timing problems.

The first is my wifes machine of many years. It just quit "sewing". The bobbin mechanism never engages the top thread!
I found another on with what was reported as a power supply problem on ebay so I grabbed it. Nothing wrong with elcetronics, but it constantly warns that safety equipment engaged and check uppr thread for breaks.

Using the "new" one, I could see that the rotary hook is out of sink with the needle. Can you tell me how to "time" these machines? I can not find a service manual anywhere. I am fair mechanically adept and up for a challenge.

thank you,
Sean D

Thank you for the timing information. That is what I asked, but I should have been more clear.

Are you familiar with this model? Does the error on the 2nd system sound like a timing problem? I think it just means the system thinks the upper thread is not moving.

Thanks again for the timing information.

Hi,

Adjusting the Needle Thread Tension
Align the number 2 on the tension dial with the
setting mark q.
Balanced thread tension:
A small portion of needle thread should appear on
the underside of the fabric.
When adjusting needle thread tension, the higher
numbers tighten, the lower numbers loosen.
• Tension is too tight
The bobbin thread shows through on the topside
of the fabric.
Turn the dial to a lower number to loosen the
needle thread tension.
• Tension is too loose
The needle thread forms loops and looks ragged.
Turn the dial to a higher number to tighten the
needle thread tension.
Pleade dont rate me if you are not satisfied
Thank you for using Fixya.......

*Grin* I use to have this machine! It's a very old machine and may not be worth repairing. *tear* It sounds like the on/off switch is broken and un-responsive. The "Sped up and went crazy", part sounds Motherboard related. You never know; take it to a Authorized Brother repair shop motherboard....

I keep breaking needles on my Brother 1034D.

Sounds like your timing has messed up ... your booklet should tell you how to adjust this. If you do not have the book, Google "Setting the timing on my Brother 1034D" and you should be able to figure it out using a video or someones procedure ... good luck!

That's a tough call, parts can be pretty high to fix a machine. Have looked around to price out a new embroidery machine, Janome makes some very nice one in that price range. I'd try ebay there is one which is missing the foot control and hoops for $250.00 just search Brother Pacesetter PC-8200 this may be the ticket you already have the foot control and hoops.

Best of luck
