SOURCE: Inner 'glass' of door

The inner glass can and should be replaced. It protects the metal mesh screen from getting dirty, which can cause it to be damaged and allow microwave leakage. You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383 If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

SOURCE: Glass door

It doesn't appear to have been involved in a recall, but since its a non-US model, I probably can't get much more info on it.

Many if not most glass suppliers from the phone book will handle tempered glass too.

Need to know correct size of microwave door glass for LG model MG-604w mine is broken after a fall, can I still use without glass?

NO, do not use the microwave with a broken door glass, this glass is specially protected to stop any dangerous microwave leakage, it is also something you cannot replace yourself, take it to a reputable service centre so that once the glass has been repaire the oven can be tested for safety purposes.

Roper microwave has broken glass in the door

Whatever you do don't use the microwave until you replace the door. You run the risk of possibly shattering the glass or being exposed to dangerous microwaves from the oven. Get on the Roper web site and find a replacement for the door. You never know there could be a recall for safety issues on your particular model.

Broken microwave door glass

Be very careful with microwaves. I would not work on it myself. Technicians actually have a meter to measure for leaks after they put it back together. I would be surprised if you could get parts for it anyway. You risk life and limb if you get it wrong.

Door handle broken away from microwave unit.

The door handle can easily be replaced. This is a common problem with microwave oven doors. You would think the manufacturer's would make them a bit more durable.

This is a very simple repair. To access the door handle mounting screws on MOST microwave ovens, you have to remove the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. You can use a small screwdriver to carefully pry the plastic up and work your way slowly around the perimiter of the glass. Most microwave ovens also have grooves in the panel that you can insert the screwdriver into. Use care not to pry against the glass. The glass is tempered and also has an RF shield that prevents harmful microwaves from potentially harming the consumer. If you break the glass, you will need to purchase a new door.

The door handle screws are located behind the inner panel. Simply remove the broken handle and install the new one. Re-insert the inner door panel carefully and gradually work your way around the perimeter of the door glass and make sure it snaps back into place.

If you have questions about this repair, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

You should be able to buy only the door handle and avoid having to replace the entire door. Appliancepartspros.com carries the handle.
