Started a couple of days ago, water has been seeping from under the unit. I checked inside and found that the bottles of wines are also wet. The inside back metal plate is also wet. The motor is still running and the unit is still keeping the temperature. What could be the problem?

Re: Water leaking from unit
It may be the drain line is not dripping into the catch bucket under the back side, visually check to see if the line is reaching into the bucket and that it's not clogged up on the inside of the unit floor. The back panel being wet may just be condensation in between cooling cycles as the frost melts. If the unit is OK with keeping temps the refrigerant charge is likely OK.

I assume there are no leaks in the windows or sunroof.
One probable cause, is the Air Conditioning unit. On all cars there is a drain line for the AC unit. As a unit runs, it produces condensation. (Just as a bottle of cold water produces condensation in a warm, humid area). That water has to go somewhere, so there is a drain at the bottom of the system. That drain (which comes out under the car, usually centered under the dashboard area), can become clogged or pinched and leave the water to accumulate in the system base, (again inside the car, under the dash). When this happens, the water will seep under the carpet and find the lowest area, which in this case, is the floorboard in the back seat area.
Is the hose from the freeze compartment in the drain pan? Or is the drain pan leaking? The unit is going into a defrost and that is where the water is coming from. It drains into a drain pan where it evaporates over time......Check the drain line and the drain pan. Is there ice in the bottom on the freezer maybe the drain is pluged inside and the excess is seeping out the door during defrost. Hope this helps....
What about a leaking heater core... If the defroster is on and your winshield fogs up temporarily when the car is first started, that is a good indication of a heater core thats leaking water inside the car... Have that checked, Im guessing its your problem..
No, I would not recommend putting water into the chill chamber since if there is a "gap" hole in this compartment, the water could get inside the unit's electronics etc.. which could at the very least short the unit and at worst electrocute you as you take the bottle out/touch the unit. That's the problem with this or any other Peltier/thermoelelectric type of chiller. They are only good for maintaining an ALREADY cold bottle's temperature, not for chilling it rapidly. There is no good or inexpensive way to get better chilling from these types of units. It's the law of themodynamics and heat transfer. Water is the best/safest/most inexpensive medium to use, not chilled air or even super cold air. Cold air or even super cold air just does not match the chilling
potential of a liquid like water. The reason why 50F air is no
problem, for you to be out in for hours, but 50F water you'll get
hypothermia in 20-30 mins.
The best unit for chilling a warm wine bottle is the cooper cooler. Go to www.coopercooler.com.
