Every time we receive a fax it seems as though the toner is thick or not dry and it gets all over the hands and sometimes our clothes. I have never experienced this problem w/a fax machine before. Please help!

There is a smudged side on the fax when it comes across. I have changed the toner and shaken the toner up the smudge still comes back in the same place on the fax

If this smudge is showing up on the faxes you are RECEIVING and you have changed the toner then the next most likely cause is a fuser problem. This is especially true if the smudged area feels gritty or the toner rubs off the page in the smudged area. If this is the case then you need to replace the fusing unit or have a local repair place replace the fuser "film" on your fuser unit.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

Thick Dark Line on received and copies of faxes

don't know the model of machine, but usually caused by the drum unit or toner cartridge. many machines have both drum and toner in 1 unit. try replacing.

Our faxes are being received with a large/thick

Look on the glass where the scanner is and sometimes a lot of White out gets stuck on the glass, clean with windex and dry good.

If it's a lazer fax, look on the rollers for toner build up around the fuser section. Clean with Alcohol.

Cant send faxes

It sounds like the faxes memory is full, either from receiving or transmitting faxes, try turning it off and on again, the fax might just need to recognize you have installed a net toner cartridge.

BLACK LINE 1" THICK ON FAX COPY BEING SENT OUT

I bet your incoming pages are clean right? The Laser is not used for outgoing faxes.
Lift up your document feeder and clean the scanner glass that the documents are scanned across

Can't receive fax but can send fax

I have a feeling that it is a re-manufactured or compatible cartridge??
There is a fuse that needs to be replaced on this unit. it blows when the cartridge is installed to reset the machine. If the fuse has not been replaced or is defective the machine will not recognize the new unit.

Received fax in memory but not printing

I just checked this out as I had the same problem. It seems that the machine is programmed to stop printing faxes when the Toner is "out". Even though the toner is not completely out. I was positive that the note on the screen was false since I could print out documents and copies (I am not using Samsung original Toner). But the fax will refuse to print.  I fixed this by changing the toner (again with a non-Samsung toner) and it is printing all the faxes in memory.  It is stupid that they haven't set up a menu item to force it to print all the faxes in memory but voila, that seems to be the fix. I guess this is a way for them to control that we only use Samsung toner.

Low toner message

sounds like you have a bent toner sensor. turn the machine off and take the toner out and place on the side

what you could try to do is grab a piece of paper fold it in 4 like so
__ __
|__|__| __
|__|__| then rip one piece like so |__|

then rip one piece off and fold that 5 times over it self.

look into where the toner goes in the middle you will see a silver bracket with a black round piece of plastic on the top left conner you need to put that piece of paper under that coner where the black circle is and turn the machine back on then put the toner in.

if this does not work you need a tech to look at it

In 3 second make combination on you Samsung 4521F 'Menu'-#-1-9-3-4. You will enter in tech menu. Select 'toner'-new toner-yes. You will receive faxes. It really works.
