Vertical lines while recording Canon zr100 camcorder

Took the camcorder to record my sons race last week and all I got on the viewer were colored vertical lines. I could see motion, so it was in record mode, but would not give me a clear picture. (This also ended up on the tape when I played it back.) Thoughts?

I'm positive the camera needs to be cleaned. The recording heads sound like they are dirty and it doesn't matter what tape is placed in there, whether it's new or not. Purchase a cleaning tape from a consumer electronics store. Make sure you read the directions very carefully. The tape actually rubs the recording heads so you only want to do it for a short time to avoid damage. Let me know how it goes.

Lines through the playback

Someone here recommended on another post to put the lense cap on & videotape the blackness in a quiet room for 5-10 mins. I tried this as a last resort & it worked. When I played back the tape, no more skipping or gray lines. I had 4-5 SOLID gray lines with skipping video & audio in between on every tape I put in. The person who helped me solve this said: "the speed isn't linked with the last time you recorded on it. Frames have an A/B part to them. If A is hitting B instead of A, a line appears. I would try the head cleaner first, then blacken your used tape (keep lens cap on and record in a quiet room) and try that."
My camera is a Canon zr80 digital camcorder. (Called Canon, they had me reset it & then recommended sending it in).

Horizontal lines on playback screen

When I played back the tape, no more skipping or gray lines. I had 4-5 SOLID gray lines with skipping video & audio in between on every tape I put in. I think the person who helped me solve this said that it was a result of the tape alignment going off. My camera is a Canon zr80 digital camcorder. Canon ZR100 Mini DV Digital Camcorder Problem

I have a Canon4.gif ZR 10 And it does say remove cassette often and recently it eat the tape and destroyed our recordings.
Does this have something to do was the round small battery1.gif in the front part of the camcorder?

Is this a consumer complaint I feel uncomfortable because we have alot of Cassettes recorded and we are afraid to play them because it might chew them up.
There is a mini cassette player2.gif that can play the cassetes ????

Need Help!!!! What am I going to do ??? PNicioli@sbcglobal.net

Sound is ok, but do not record images.

I have had the same problem since I purchased mine 4 years ago and it has been repaired 3x and is in the shop for a 4th. I had the extended warranty and Futureshop refuses to acknowledge that it is a Lemon and should be replaced as they don't consider resoldering wires as a "repair". My unit has been in the service center a total of 12 weeks over the 4 years. The service center recommends Sony Camcorders and the Claim center said they get few Sony camcorders so I would say the Canon problem is an issue that is common. Sorry to say. Mike
