For now my suggestion is: Again, try to Restore from Disk Mode. If that doesn't work you may need a repair. Do the reset, then after the screen flickers to the gray Apple logo; let go of both buttons and then quickly press and hold the center and play/pause buttons. You should see a black check mark on the iPod screen. Plug it in and restore.

SOURCE: Apple iPod video 30 gb black will not start

Yes, this happens to me as well. However, it's only when the ipod has no battery life left at all. The only solution I have for myself is that I cannot plug it into the wall when it has completely died. It HAS to be plugged into the computer, that's the only way it will charge when it has reached that point. I'm pretty sure, but not completely sure, that it has to do with the battery. I'm planning on buying a new battery off ebay and installing it, just to see if this fixes anything. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: my ipod 120gb ipod classic does nothing but show

When the Apple Logo is stuck
If this happens, put the iPod into Disk Mode through the diagnostic menue. Then connedct the iPod to your computer and update or restore the iPod.
Sometimes you can get away with just updating the iPod, so try that first, but usually you have to restore the iPod .
As always make backups of your music files, because the restore procedure will eliminate them.
Good Luck,
I hope this helps

I just turned my ipod off and now it wont switch on and i am trying to charge it right now(i pressed the home key and the power key and it just turned black)

Can you see the apple logo or just black screen?
If only black screemn, it means you entered DFU mode. To get out of it, press home and sleep buttons for exactly 10 seconds until the apple logo appears.
Is this iPod jailbroken? If you're stuck on the apple logo, you need Redsnow to boot tether your iPod.
If you're still having problems, your last resort is to restore the iPod which means all your data will be erased. But try the first two suggestions first. Let me know if this works for you. :)

Ipod won't turn on screen is black

May be the battery id dead.
Connect your ipod to computer and press and hold the middle and menu button together until you get an apple logo on the screen.
Let go the buttons as soon as apple logo appears on the screen. In most of the cases, that fix the issue.
In case you wont get apple logo on the screen, then it's a hardware problem. Call AppleCare at 1800-275-2273 in that case
Hope that answers your question

The ipod is only showing the apple logo with a black background when i try to reset it it returns back to the apple logo with a black background what do i do?

I would hold the menu and center button at the same time until you get an error from itunes that the recovery software is downloading

then restore the ipod

if this dose not work it is probably a hard ware issue and you need to get the ipod repaired

My ipod touch wont work

If iPod touch won't turn on, or if the display freezes or doesn't respond
  • iPod touch may need charging. See "Charging the Battery" in the iPod touch Features Guide.
  • Press and hold the Home button for at least six seconds, until the application you were using quits.
  • If that doesn't work, turn off iPod touch and turn it on again. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPod touch for a few seconds until a red slider appears, and then drag the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
  • If that doesn't work, reset iPod touch. Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If iPod touch continues to freeze or not respond after you reset it
  • Reset iPod touch settings. From the Home screen choose Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. All your preferences are reset, but your data and media are left untouched.
  • If that doesn't work, erase all content on iPod touch. From the Home screen choose Settings > General > Reset > "Erase All Content and Settings." All your preferences are reset, and all your data and media are removed from iPod touch.

To reset the iPhone or iPod Touch, press and hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button simultaneously at the same time for at least ten seconds, then the LCD display will clear and the Apple logo appears on the black background. When Apple logo appears, reset is done.
