Can't get connected
Please give more details as to what is happening and when it happens?
If you are saying your computer boots up but there are No Icons on the desktop, then a virus or infection has hidden them or changed some settings.
Click the Ctrl/Alt/Del keys to start the Task Manager. Press and Hold the Ctrl and Alt keys then hit the Del key. When the task manager opens up click the Processes tab. Under the processes tab click the columnar heading Image Name to sort the items running in alphabetical order. Look to see if you see explorer.exe running under the image name. If you do click it one time to highlight it then click the END PROCESS button at the bottom right of the Task Manager Window.
Next click FILE at the very top left corner of the Task Manager Window and select New Task (Run..). When the Create New Task window pops up type in: explorer.exe and press OK. Your desktop icons and start menu should start populating.
Sorry, I misunderstood your initial request for help. So you can't get your wireless to connect. Do you have a wireless router? That's the first thing you need. Does your computer have wireless capabilities? It would help to know what brand and model of computer you have and what operating system you have.
First off it sounds like you do not have the wireless turned on if your computer has wireless capabilities. I say that because even if you don't have a wireless router it should pick up a signal from one of your neighbors unless you live far away from neighbors.
Look on both sides and in the front of your computer for a switch that turns the wireless on.
For Windows XP below
Once you turn the wireless on you should be able to Click Start/Control Panel/Network Connections. Right Click on the wireless network and select View Available Wireless Networks. Find your network that you want to connect to, highlight it and click connect. If it requires a Network Key or Password you will be prompted to put it in.
For Windows Vista or Windows 7
Once the wireless is turned on just click on the icon that looks like a staircase at the bottom right near the time that represents the network connection. It should open a window that shows you the networks that are within the range. Find your network and select it by highlighting it, and you can also check the option to automatically connect ( this will automatically connect to the network in the future each time you turn on the computer). Click Connect and if your network requires a Password or Network Key you will be prompted to enter it.
You have to put the network key or password in correctly or you will never connect. It's case sensitive and everything has to be exact.
If you connect successfully you will be shown window that asks if the connection is Your Home, Work or a Public Place. Select the appropriate location.
