The sound on my computer just went out - Gateway PC Desktops

You'll have to try harder. That's a statement, not a question. How about some more information about your problem. Telling us what operating you're using would be a good place to start.

Anyhow, I'll take a shot at it. Update the drivers for your sound card. Turn up the volume. Make sure speakers are plugged in. Make sure the volume is not turned all the way down or muted through software.

your head phones went bad or your sound card in most cases your head phones went bad but also check in computer and go in system property and see if there is a ! next to your sound driver try to fix it click on it then up date it online.

Sound settings need to be on the sound card settings that are default to your computer. If it is a SoundForge Card example then find the default card you have installed and this is what the settings should be on the sound card that is installed on your computer. I hope that this helped you. John

My sound went out and now is saying no sound card


This means 1 of 2 things. Either your Sound Card is fried, or the Sound driver is corrupted.

1. First, check that your driver is installed.

Click the start menu and right click on "My Computer" and click "Manage". Select "Device Manager" from the list on the left, Scroll down to "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers". Expand that list, if you have any errors (Yellow Triangles, Red X's) there, you will need to reinstall drivers which can be obtained HERE.

2. Install a new Sound Card in your computer. This will be a PCI-type Card. There are cheap replacements which can be found HERE.

Storm caused power outage. When computer restarted no sound but everything else works fine. Dell 4100 desktop XP-pro


right click my computer and go to manage. Once there click on device manager and check your sound audio drivers. If it is yellow or missing then your sound card might of went dead. good luck

New Sound Card is not working.


Ted, the first thing you should do is go into your computer's BIOS and disable the built-in sound card. Once you do that, go back to your device manager and if the onboard sound card still appears there remove or disable it. Then reboot and your new sound card should be recognized and you can install drivers and begin using it.

Computer has no sound


login to administartor, which hv rights, go to device manager, locate drivers and update it it will works

Sound/Audio went out after logging out of Skype. Don't think Skype had anything to do with it...if there is such a thing as a soundboard, I think it went SNAFU.


Just restart the computer . double click on the speaker icon and see master volume/wave is muted or not. If there is no icon, insert the motherboard cd and install sound drivers.

Monitor went blank


Let's try to isolate the problem:

-If possible try both monitors on a different computer.

-does the computer makes any sound when you turn it on?... do you get any image at all when you turn it on?
