Question about Western Digital My Book Essential Edition (WDG1U5000N) 500 GB Hard Drive

1 Answer

Says drive needs formatting; but I have all my pictures, music, etc. on this and it says it will erase everything. The light is still on and the computer detects it. Just can't read or see anything on it right now.

How to erase the hard drive on the acer aspire 1?

Double Click on My Computer, then Right Click on the C: Local Drive and select the option to Format. Remember formatting erases everything so I hope you have an operating system disk to reload. Why format?? If your system is bad and you have an operating system disk, then when you reload from it you will get a newly formated disk. But again you'll lose all your docs, music, pictures and any programs you've added since you bought the computer.

How to get pictures back if you hit the format button

Unfortunately, once you format the disk, the pictures are gone. Formatting erases everything and gets the disk ready to receive more pictures. Sorry to have to relay the bad news.

2. When the POST screen comes, press F8 key repeatedly untill you see the 'Advanced Boot Options' screen.

3. Select "Repair Your Computer ".

4. A windows will open, select "Comlpete PC Restore" Or "Full Factory Recovery" option.

5. Follow the instructions.

6. It will ask you to "Select the Recovery Location / Drive" Or "Insert the Recovery CD/DVD"!

7. Now, the recovery process will start. It will take about 30-45 minutes.

8. You will get the options like : "Partition all drives", "Format all drives", "Fromat System drive (C: drive)", etc.

9. Select only "Format system drive (C: drive)". This helps you to prevent erasing your data on other drives (like, D: ,E: ,F: , etc) .

10. The system will restart multiple times and you will get message "Recovery Successful"!

11. Don't forget to create a 'Restore Point' after successful recovery...it will help later in case of any crash!

tell me if it helps...tc! :)

Doesn't show mp3 files on micro sd card

You have to drag and drop only the MP3 files into the music folder. If you have them organized and in folder by artist, drag only the MP3s into the card's Music folder.

To get a good start, you reformat the frame's internal memory by following the steps below: 1. Click on the "Macintosh HD" icon. 2. Click on "Applications". 3. Click on "Utilities". 4. Click on "Disk Utility". 5. "Kodak" drive should be in the list showing a white drive icon 6. Click that icon and select “Erase”. 7. Select the “MS-DOS file system (FAT16)” option and give it a volume name e.g. "Kodak". The format will begin when you click the “Erase” button below. 8. Try to copy the files to the re-formatted internal memory of the frame. 1. "Kodak". You have not yet formatted the drive to work with you MAC. You will need to use your MAC's Disk Utility to format the drive in order to write to the drive, but be aware that formatting will erase everything already on the external drive, so back up anything on the drive you want to keep first.

I need help with my mp3

Try formatting the device in My Computer. My Computer>Device Name>Right click on the device and select format. This will erase everything and you should be able to start over. You should not fill the device all the way up, as it need some free space to operate properly. You can add to this question for additional support. Best of Luck.
