The cable you need to connect to your pc is a regular parallel cable. It is called, IEEE 1284 Bi-directional Parallel Cable.
If you intend to use the a USB port this is what you need; USB to DB-25. The printer connection of the cable is the same the only diffrence here is the USB female adapter for the pc.

What cable do I need to connect to my Power Mac G4?

Your best bet would be a parallel to USB adapter if you can find one that is designed to work with MAC. The Belkin unit seems to get OK ratings. Or connect the 4100 to your network, as the title shows 4100N. Not sure about driver support under MAC, you will need to check for the drivers.

This error happens when the Pickup Roller/Clutch wears out. It's quite common and easy to repair. Purchase and install Roller/Clutch Part Number RB1-8974-000CN
Action: Do a Google search on the following link [hp laserjet 4100 + Roller/Clutch problems ] and you will locate numerous vender's of this part number item.
It's easy to install. Just unplug the power cord and disconnect the network cable, then set the printer on its back
and remove tray number two. The roller clutch will be visible. It has a pinch release that allows you to slide it off
the shaft and re-install the new one. It should snap in place. Right the printer then reconnect network cable and power cord and power back up. Function should be restored.

Which model do you have? There is an optional card to install before you can have it connected to an Ethernet network if you just have the 4100 model.

Printer does'nt initialize

This could be a Jetdirect network card fault. Remove the card and power the printer on. If it powers up and goes ready then power it off again, refit the card and try again.Sometime reseating the jetdirect card will sort this problem If it doesn't work, then i recommend replacing the jetdirect netwok card.

Regular Maintance

200,000 pages is pretty good, most people get around 150 - 170,000. The parts can be ordered from HP here:
Maintenance kits come with clear instructions and are usually done by the user. At most you will need a crosspoint screwdriver to undo a couple of screws (depends on the model).

Hope this helps, please take a moment to rate this solution. Thanks.

50.4 fuser error for hp laserjet 4100n

If unplugging the power cord for 30 minutes does not cure the problem, you have a bad fuser.

Look in the back of the printer for 2 blue levers.

Make sure the fuser is locked in.
