My name is Pauline,

even though the cartridge fits the ink release part on the cartridge may not have you made sure it is the correct type of ink sometimes they change the code on the cartridges so you have to make sure it matches the cartridge in size and shape to the one you removed. Hope this helps

C 3180 hp printer, just bought from thrift store, ----but,,,it seems the thing that holds the ink cartridges is stuck, though its trying to slide as it should, it seems to be hitting, jamming , light re;...

First of all, if the ink cartridges are stuck, as you rightly guessed, it may not be the correct cartridge.

Now, even suppose, it is the correct cartridge, it would not have been installed correctly . the Label side of the cartridge should face upwards, Not towards you.. when you are inserting the ink cartridge.

if you are from India the compatible ink cartridge would be HP 850(BLACK) AND HP 855(COLOR)

In North,South America it is HP 92(BLACK) AND HP 93.

DX8400 printer will not recognise ink cartridges even though they are not empty

If you are not using OEM cartridges, the changes are that the ink cartridges are faulty. Some aftermarket and refilled cartridges do not have the chip to make them compatible with the OEM cartridges so that the are not recognized by the printer electronics. The first thing I would do is insert new OEM cartridges. If the problem goes away, I would return the faulty cartridges to the vendor for either an exchange or refund.
This should take care of the problem. If it doesn't let me know.
Thanks.

Indicator light remains lit even though it is a full cartridge

It seems there are "new" chips & "old" chips in these ink cartridges for the HP 1200 inkjet printer. I have a cartridge with a "new" chip in and it is working fine. The printer doesn't read the "old" chips. Something to watch for when using refilled ink cartridges.

Ink not compatiable

Hi. When I fitted the second set of cartridges to my Epson Stylus Photo 1400, the printer failed to recognize any of them, even though they were genuine Epson! I repeatedly installed and un-installed them without success. After giving it a bit of thought, I had a hunch that the contacts on the cartridges might not be making good contact with the contacts on the printer as the cartridges seemed a little loose. I removed each cartridge in turn and after putting some adhesive tape on the opposite end to the contacts, (there are grooves cut into this end, but the tape drops nicely into them when you install the cart) replaced them all. (This had the effect of pushing the cartridges harder against the contacts). Switched on again and all carts worked fine. So it seems that even Epson can't make the cartridges to fit their own printer properly! Having said that it's a great printer otherwise. I hope this is helpful to you.

Continually says align print cartridges

My guess is that the color cartridge is either defective or not inserted correctly. I have a 6110 and know that inserting a print cartridge is a little tricky. If it isn't completely inserted and the top latch fastened correctly, the cartridge either won't work or produce errors.

Try reseating the color cartridge so it's inserted in exactly the same way as the black cartridge and run a print job again.

Open the following web page and go to Step three to see the instructions for cleaning the electronic contacts on the cartridge and print carriage.

Ink Cartridge Alignment Fails

Those seem the most likely causes and solutions to me. Good luck.

Printer will not print even though the cartdige is new

The ink heads are clogged with dried ink.

Follow these steps:
1) Begin saving money for a new printer.

2) Lift the scanner to get at the ink. Remove the cartridges.
Take cotton swabs and alcohol and clean all the ink off of the top of the heads (located in back.  they're the pointy things) until you can see the holes.  THE CRUCIAL STEP: Insert something-small enough to fit in the holes-all the way through every hole in every head. This should clean out the dried ink and allow your printer to continue to work.

3) If step two doesn't work, I really hope you did step one.
Don't buy an Epson.  They also have this other feature which prevents printing when one cartridge is empty.  Even a color cartridge.  I recommend a Canon, if you like name brands, or an HP.

Incorrect ink level reading

kiwipom, While ink cartridges look like plastic cups that only hold ink...they are not. The information the printer needs to think it has a "NEW" set of ink cartridges is on the cartridge itself. You must fakeout the printer to believe you are inserting "new lexmark" inks. Printer companies make money from the repeated sale of the ink, not the printer itself. I had an old epson that I would refill I would then have to place pieces of tape on the cartridge turn the printer on, remove the cartridge move the tape to another side of the cartridge turn on again etc. Anyway lexmark may need the same. When the new original cartridges show try them first to get the printer "thinking" correctly. Let me know what happens. Good Luck, Tim
