Question about Kenmore 63222 / 63224 Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

Kenmore, bottom freezer, ice bldup in frzr til leaks on floor

I have a Kenmore, bottom freezer, TECH SHEET 10096833. I get so much ice buildup, I've had to remove the drawer or it freezes shut. Then it runs under the seal and I have a nice pool of water on my kitchen floor. It seems to happen only 1ce or 2ce a week, like it's on a timer. It has an ice maker, but it's never been hooked up. My husband thought it may be too close to the wall, so he pulled it out. Still have problem. Any help would be very appreciated -- I'm getting so tired of this!

The freezer will defrost itself periodically depending on the run times of the compressor. This is determined by the defrost timer and will shut the unit off and turn on a heater to thaw the frost buildup. The resulting water is then channeled to the defrost pan which rests on top of the condensor coil under the freezer section or on top of the compressor, (depending on manufacturer design). The tubing to the defrost pan could be plugged or kinked off. You may also need a modification kit installed to keep the defrost drain trough from freezing over. I would suggest you consult a local technician for advice in this area. Also, make sure all doors are sealing properly as an air leak will cause excessive frost build up and will have a tendency to freeze before it can all drain out, then any successive defrost cycles will overflow the trough and run out the front.

Why would our Kenmore refrigerator have an ice sheet at the bottom of the freezer and frequently leak water onto the floor?

sounds like a condensation problem due to plugged freezer drain line hole, need to remove bottom plate and have a closer look. if not that then check ur defrost terminator

check for ice buildup in the freezer floor,if so then the drain hole for the defrost pan is plugged up and when it defrosts the water from this leaks down into the refrige, you need to remove rear inner wall panel inside freezer and take a small wire and rat out the drain hole under the evaporator coil that goes to the bottom of the unit

My Kenmore fridge is leaking water from the bottom. The water is copper colored and seems to be coming from one of the hoses, but I can't tell which one. There is no ice maker.

is this unit a side by side if so do you see ice in the bottom of the freezer area and if not and is a top frzr pull the unit out from the wall and check to ensure the drain hose from the freezer defrosting tube is in the proper area

Water leaks into freezer bottom & floor

Hello, this sounds like you have a blockage in the drain tube, remove panel back of freezer..you may see ice build up...melt ice with hair dryer/heat gun...you will see a pan below evaporator...melt ice in pan...dry water up in pan with paper towel...now you should see a hole in pan that leads to drain tube...pour some hot water in pan..wait a couple minutes..mop up water and repeat this step 2-3 times....once you have done this find some flexible curatain wire or electrical wire..poke down the hole until you see the water drain..now it is clear..put back panel back and you are good to go. The reason you see water in the Freezer is because the water has been leaking into the freezer instead of running into the drain hole...If you need any further assistance please feel free to comment again. good luck! P.s Please don't forget to rate my solution thanks! Mike.

Ice build up on the bottom of freezer

Check to see if after clearing out the ice sheet, that the gasket for the door is tight against the freezer. If air is leaking by the gasket, it will build up really quick.

It sounds like the freezer has leaking door seals and air is getting in to the freezer compartment. Your temperatures are set about right. Regards
