Reinstalled XP on an Acer Aspire 5040 in a second partition and cannot get the Atheros 5005G wireless adapter to work.

I have one partition with the adapter working perfectly but cannot get the adapter to work under XP professional, Vista or Ubuntu in my second partition.

I wish to reinstall XP in the second partition and then wipe he first partition as XPis now very slow, but am reluctant to do so until I can get the adapter working.

Go to acer's website and click on the support section. you will have to pick your country. you can then choose your model. once you choose your model, you can choose the drivers. their website is not really setup well for knowing what drivers you need. you can also use one of several driver software tools that will check your system and tell you what drivers are out of date and then download them for you.

hope this helps...

Acer Aspire 3620 wireless lan keeps shutting down my system.

This issue arise when there is conflict between drivers the best we can do is to open device manager click on Vien and then select show hidden deivces and disable every driver except your wireless adapter and see if it works.

Thank you please revert back for any clarification.

Are you sure that you installed the windows xp drivers and not the vista drivers? There may be no xp drivers for your laptop, and if thats the case, you'll have to switch back to vista. Make sure you know 100% that its the xp drivers.
