If you have your DELL restore disc you shouldn't need a key. DELL is among a number of PC manufacturers that can have what are called OEM embedded keys. Which is a fancy way of saying they put the key in a routine that is run by the restore disc so Widows shouldn't as you for one.
If you REALLY want your key though you can just flip your laptop on its head. On the bottom of their Laptops DELL puts a sticker that has the product key for the operating system that the Laptop shipped with.
If that sticker is damaged to the point of NOT being able to be read you will need to contact DELL's customer support. They will likely ask for your serial number and then they can provide you with a valid serial number.
Hope this helps you,
Dave
