Question about Samsung Projection Televisions

2006 - HLR6167WAX/XAA - 1966

I have a HLR6167WAX/XAA purchased in 2006 with 1966 Usage Hours. For no apparent reason (ie no power surge etc. screen began freezing, remote becomes unresponsive, must unplug to turn off, picture may suddenly come back fine, or come back as a broken up image(but not green or black and white),periodic falshes of green panels on otherwise good picture, TV Guide just shows up randomly when channel was changed. Initially fully powering down correct for 1-2 days, but now that solution works for 1-2 minutes. Diagnosed via multiple forums as likely a DMD problem. I replaced the L6 DMD Assembly, repowered and still have the same issues. Help!

I would not think that signal strength would affect ability to turn set on and off or use remote to shift between sources. Has same problem even if HDMI input from DVD is the source. Also sound stays on even when picture freezes or goes black in the TV mode.

These had previously led me toward thinking it was the DMD being the problem.

Any thing like capacitor or ics getting loose on the main board can cause this freezing problem.if everything seems proper there there is definately the power supply failure problem.where something is getting short due to over heat.or the device is not getting required voltage to run perfectly.
first check out the board and locate any loose component.then go for power supply repais and voltage check.your problem will be solved.

Did you test voltages at DMD board before replacing it?

The problem can also be caused by a bad ballast board, bad power board and problems on digital board.

I think your antenna signal was weak and you should get an amplifier .

There is also chance of software bug in the tuner. The tuner may be defective.

Samsung HLR5667wx/xaa. Power surge took out tv. Replaced bulb and the bulb works, but tv wont come on and lamp light is flashing.

Hello, it sounds like the color wheel may have failed. Was there any noises, like a high pitch sound before it went out? If the color wheel isn't turning at proper speed, the set won't start up by shutting down the lamp protection circuit.

even technicians who are familiar with those units, before installing new lamps, they use a 'calibration unit' for that or any particular model lamp and calibrate them right after installation. If you don't have the proper calibrator and adjust them right after you installed them, you will get that result. Even experience techs come across that problem if the calibration is not done properly. Also, each lamp for a different color value, has its own calibration/sync values.

Intermittent black lines samsung hlp5067w

When the lines are showing, check to see if you can see them with the on screen menu being displayed, if you can then it is the DMD board, if you cannot then it is just the digital board.

Samsung HLS5087WX/XAA DPL shuts down after 30 - 60 seconds, 3 blinking lights

I beleive from what you have told me that most likely it is just a lamp issue, there are a lot of so called original equipment lamps and counterfit lamps on the market that will barely give you 1000 hours run time. When it comes to Television lamps cheeper is not better. Make certain to buy an original Samsung lamp, you should get about 3500 to 4000 hours from it. If you need further assistance or have questions please reply to continue.

Screen goes black and whte and freezes

Does it do it on all connections IE: DVD, Cabe, VCR? if it does than most likely a bad digital board in the TV. If only on one connection you see this then suspect intermittent connections to that device or a bad cable.

Hi.The ballast may be defective if you hear constant clicking sounds after you've pressed the power button.

If there are no clicking sounds after you press the power button(3-5 clicks every 2-3 seconds), this will confirm optimal ballast performance and, it will also confirm a major issue that concerns the Power distribution board. There are several weak or damaged components on the board that have failed.

The replacement of the power board is recommended in this case.
