Also own a ScanJet 3500C flatbed. No luck finding driver for Mac Leopard OS X 10.5.5 either.

FYI: Under Windows XP if you have Internet Explorer 7 installed, in order to use the HP Director software for this scanner you must click on the icon, then do alt spacebar, minimize the box, maximize it & you're set.

I am also having problems with hp3500hp running on MacOS X 10.5.5.
I downloaded "TWAIN SANE Interface for MacOS X"
    from and it installed

which I assume are the hp3500c backend drivers.
I tried using the scanner in three ways and none succeeded.
    1. Scan using OpenOffice Writer. It scanned and at the end of the scan the application crashed.
    2. Scan using Photoshop Elements 7. It scanned but did not return to the application. It displayed a busy wheel until I finally "force quit" the application.
    3. From a command line terminal, I typed
    "scanimage --format tiff > test.tiff",
as suggested by TWAIN SANE Frequently Asked Questions at
It scanned the document and produced the .tiff file
but did not return to the command line prompt. I quit the terminal to get out of that one. The tiff file that the scan produced could be viewed with Preview, but when I tried to open it with Photoshop it failed with the following error:
"Could not complete your request because an unexpected end-of-file was encountered".

Please I need Hp Driver scanjet 2200c for widows 7

Unfortunately hp does not offer a driver through their website. You can try running a windows update to see if they have the driver. Also you can try manually adding the driver (ask for help if you dont know how to do that) or my favorite 10$ investment was "driver genius" it works for me on about 9 out of 10 computers.

What are the functions of the four buttons on the HP scanjet 3530c scanner ?

Hello Joyce,

If you look at page 4 of the manual, you will see that the functions are Email, Scan, Copy, and Memories Disc Creator. There are icons associated with each, and they are in the manual also.

Here is a link to the manual:

Hope this helps.

Thanks for using Fixya.

HP scanjet 3500c wont open with MAC OS 10.5.5
I have a Mac running OS X 10.5.5. dan123 answered my hp3500c problem with the above link. I downloaded the dmg file and installed the hp environment and it works. I was not, however, able to use the Photoshop plugin in Photoshop Elements 6. I can use the hp GUI and name Photoshop Elements as the output. I performs the scan and then opens it in Photoshop.

ScanJet 5300c didn't work

Most likely the destination folder for the scanning is a shared folder with limited rights. As the administrator, reset the permissions for that folder or redirect the software to a common folder with read/write/creation etc... access.

Also, make sure you are using the HP provided drivers and not those from Microsoft.

Macintoshes and the RP614 Router Gateway

You need a Macintosh computer running MacOS 8.6, 9.x, or 10.x. (Netgear products are not supported for versions of MacOS before 8.6.) You can use the RP614 with an eMac, iBook, iMac, PowerBook, PowerMac, or PowerPC as long as they are running one of these versions of MacOS. You also need a few Ethernet cables to make the connections between the router to your modem for internet connection and from the router to your computers or peripherals. Topic 2. How do I prevent my Network configuration from being lost when I restart my computer? When making configuration changes for MacOS it is best to use Configurations (MacOS 8.x or 9. x) or Network Location (MacOS 10. x) settings instead of just changing settings for each category (TCP/IP, AppleTalk, AirPort, etc.). If you just make changes to your settings, they may be lost when you restart your computer unless you have saved them in a Configuration or Network Location. To create a Configuration in MacOS 8.x or 9.x: 1. Open AppleTalk (or TCP/IP) from the Apple Menu in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. 2. From the pull-down File menu select the Configurations option. 3. Choose New Configuration. 4. Type in a name for your new configuration (Netgear Router). 5. Make your changes to the AppleTalk (or TCP/IP) settings. 6. When you close AppleTalk (or TCP/IP) choose Save Changes. Whenever you make Configuration changes for settings in MacOS 8.x or 9.x, open Configurations from the File menu or by pressing Command-K. Saving your changes in Configurations means that they will not be lost when you reboot your computer. To create a Network Location in MacOS 10.x: 1. Open the Apple Menu by clicking on the Apple icon in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. 2. Select System Preferences. The System Preferences window displays. 3. From the System Preferences window click Network under Internet & Network. The Network settings window displays. 4. Click the Lock icon (if necessary) in the lower left-hand corner of the window to unlock the Network window so you can make changes. (You may be asked to type in your User Name and Password.) 5. Click the pull-down menu next to Location at the top of the Network window. 6. Select the New Location option. 7. Type in a name for your new Location and click OK. 8. Make your changes to the TCP/IP, AppleTalk, and AirPort settings. 9. Click the Lock icon in the lower left-hand corner to prevent further changes. The Apply configuration changes? Window displays. 10. Click Apply to apply the configuration changes for the newly-created Location. 11. Close the Network window. Topic 3. How do I connect a Macintosh to the RP614 Router Gateway? MacOS 8.6, 9.x, and 10.x 1. Set up your system for installation. 2. First make sure your ISP connection is working. Try testing your computer with the ISP directly to make sure you can successfully make a connection to the internet. 3. Connect your DSL or cable modem to the Netgear Router. 4. Log on as Administrator (if required for your system to make configuration changes). 5. Quit all other applications. It's best when configuring MacOS 8.6 and 9.x to use the Configurations settings for AppleTalk and TCP/IP because they should then retain their settings when you reboot. (Use Network Locations to save your settings changes in Mac OS 10.x.) If you just change the settings but don't use a Configuration or Network Location to save your settings changes, you may lose those changes when you restart your computer.
