Problems with laptop keyboard

When I push buttons on keyboard it doesn't type properly
For example d=de e=de w=sw q=q1 etc

My kid was pressing random buttons on the keyboard and messed it up. Anyway Function/Num Lock fixed half the problem but I can't figure out what else he pushed to fix the rest. HELP!

    I have the same laptop as you and I can't replicate the problem. Was something SPILLED into the keyboard??

    This probably isn't a solution, but when installed a new keyboard, it worked perfectly, but then I had to reformat my computer, and the version of my OS went back to the default, the same as when I first bought this computer.  When I reverted back to my OS, my keyboard then lost many of its functions.  Have you done a clean install, or an archive install lately?  If so, that could just warrant a software update.  I highly doubt that's the problem, but you never know.  Good luck with everything.

    Sincerely,

    E.

    Are you still having this problem?

    Does a flag appear in the upper-right corner of the screen near the clock? If there is a flag there but you don't recognize it, could be that the language settings for the keyboard have been changed.

Sounds like some of the keyboard settings have gotten changed. Begin by checking the System Parameters for Keyboard/Mice and verify that these are as follows:

Caps Lock = Caps Lock
Control Key = Control Key
Option Key = Option Key
Command = Command

If they are not, just press the RESTORE DEFAULTS setting and LOCK your Systems Parameter Page before closing it. Reboot your system and check keyboard operation.

Hope this helps,

Keith

External keyboard doesn't work properly. When I press the "e" or "w" key, it types "we"-- s key types "sd" -- x key types "xc" -- there are several others that do the same thing. How can I fix it?

make sure usb legacy mode is on in your bios settings if option available; if you use an external kbd due to internal one's failure then the internal probably causes interference and jams the keymaping you should detach it's flex cable from the motherboard in this case (needs experience and a lot of attention) heres an example on how to remove keyboard on a random machine (but remember each machine has it own way to remove so you'd better search for a specific tutorial for your's)

When i push the e,b,t,a,n ,or r button on my keyboard i get e3 ,bt5,a1, r is shif and nyt

I have often deal damage keyboard, and type of damage keyboard so much. For damage your experience, a variety of ways have been tried, but the result always failed. The best solution is replace keyboard.

Based on experience, three times I fix keyboard, without having to replace with a new keyboard.

First type of damage
All keyboard keys are not functioning, or functioning left side, right side not working
Solution
Remove the keyboard, and cut keyboard cable.

12_4_2011_4_49_23_pm.jpg

Second type of damage
When laptop is powered on, the sound (tiiiiiiiiiiit) so hard. When we press a button, suddenly appeared equal. example;
I press "y", y appears =======================
I press enter, appear =======================
Solution
Press and release button ~ ` , do it
repeatedly, when turning on laptop until laptop access the operating system.
.

12_4_2011_4_57_25_pm.jpg

The result is
1. When laptop turned on, there was no sound. Laptop turns normal.
2. When I press buttons, does not appear equal to. So all buttons normal function
3. There are three buttons that do not function [ { , ] } , \ '

Third type of damage
When laptop is powered, it looks normal. After entering the desktop, buttons z, x, a, s, q, w, e, does not work. If another buttons is pressed, appear equal. example;
I press p, appear p=======================
Solution
Do not turn on laptop (about 3 weeks)
This solution does not make sense, there is no technical explanation, and this solution so strange.

The fact that I experienced
This case occurred on the Acer Aspire 4736z, OS Win XP Prof.
After laptop not turned on, more than 3 weeks, keyboard returns to normal. All buttons are functioning normally. I can not explain technically, but this case never happened.

Solutions for you
The best solution is replace keyboard.

I hope this information useful.

Try holding the Fn key, usually blue, while pressing the "num lock" key, which is usually above the 7. This should release the number pad function of the keyboard.

Let me know if this doesn't fix the issue!

I have problems with my quick touch buttons. The volume will adjust itself randomly, locking the mouse etc.. Also the wifi button will stop responding sometimes and randomly start working again.

Hi,

Try this,

1. Click combination of buttons on your keyboard Windows+R -> Type MSCONFIG -> OK -> Continue -> Go to Startup Tab in the System Configuration -> Uncheck "HP Quicktouch On Screen Display Item" -> Restart Your computer.

It disables the on screen display of the volume control.

If this helpful, please give a testimonial and vote by pressing button four thumbs up

How to fix not working touchscreen? Do i have to replace it?

The Samsung Q1 is a hybrid, ultra-mobile, touch-screen device that is basically a very small tablet PC. It features a 7-inch screen, weighs a mere 1.7 lbs., features a Windows operating system, doesn't have a built-in keyboard, and comes in a variety of configurations. The Samsung Q1 doesn't offer outstanding battery life, but you can make some moves to boost your computing time.

Dim the Screen

Dim the screen brightness. Four programmable application-launch buttons occupy the right edge of the Q1. One of these, the menu button, calls up frequently-used controls, including screen brightness. Reduce the screen brightness as much as you can, as it's one of the best ways to extend battery life.
Close Power-hogging Apps

Close applications and browser windows when you're done with them. Too many open programs drain the battery. Beware power-hogging apps. Watching a video or listening to music on your Q1 drains your battery life much faster than just using Microsoft Word or checking email. Turn off the Wi-fi networking when not in use. The built-in Wi-fi searches for a network when you're not connected, which drains battery life.

Properly Caring for and Feeding a Battery

Unplug the Samsung Q1 after the battery is fully charged. Leaving your Q1 plugged in 24/7 leads to some discharge from the battery. Consider buying a bigger battery. A 3-cell battery comes with most configurations of the Q1, but you can also buy a 6-cell battery to double the battery life.

Room Temperature is Best

Don't expose the Q1 to harsh conditions. Keeping the device in a blazing hot car in direct sunlight harms your battery life. If you use your Q1 in conditions above 95 degrees Fahrenheit, you can permanently damage the battery. Cold conditions don't harm the battery in the same way, but if you leave the Q1 in the cold, let it warm to room temperature before you use it.

I hope you find it very helpful. Best regards.

The number key does not work even after changed the batteries. And the back space button and some of the keys don't work unless you push hard on them.

Look for dirt or grit under the keys, use a can of compressed air to clean out the keyboard. To use the number pad, you have to ensure that the NumLock button has been turned ON.

If the keys still dont seem to work, remove batteries and type randomly over keyboard for about 20secs. Now reinsert the batteries (ensure correct orientation), and reconnect the KB with dongle by pressing the connect button on dongle first and then on the KB. Make sure there is no source of interference nearby, such as speakers, powerful magnets, etc.

If the KB still does not function properly, uninstall and reinstall the software. Still wont function? KB is defective. Contact Logitech regarding an RMA if within the warranty period.

Cheers!

Acer 3500 keyboard

Let me start from the top.

1: removing the keyboard: as near as I can tell, at the top of your keyboard is power button etc,.. this cover can be removed.
once removed, there are at least 3 screws under it, once those are out there are 2 more on the bottom. NOTE:
could be that like on my Compaq and IBM the proper keys on the bottem are denoted by a small etching of a keyboard.
It may not be neccesary to remove the keyboard, so if it ain't broke.. don't fix it.
2: Fixing this keyboard is possible IF by stuck you mean they stick but otherwise work. My IBM for example ( used by
my kids on occasion ) has had sticky substances dropped onto the keyboard. I simply removed the appropriate keys,
cleaned them with alcohol and re-seated them. CAUTION: Pay attention to how they come off so you can put them back on
and be careful not to break the plastic connectors.
In closing,.. if all else fails and after cleaning and re-seating the keys dont work, buy a new one. They aren't that expensive if
you look around. I won't put a website here for an on-line store that carries them,.. but do a google search you'll find several
places.
