Question about Roper REX4634KQ Electric Dryer

Dryer won't turn on

A few days ago I dried a load and now my dryer will not turn on. I have checked the electrical circuit breakers and they are alright, I'm wondering maybe if there is something that could be a quick fix or if it is something more serious

Dryer worked fine yesterday. Today...not even an attempt to turn on when the button is pushed.

There is a white motor in the back of your dryer near the air duct (on left) This is what is keeping your dryer from starting. You can check the part with an ohm meater. The part number (there is 2 different ones) is either a et401 or et402. You can look at the part on the internet to know what it looks like when you are fixing it. Luckily the part is inexpensive.

Was working fine. Tried a few days later to dry a load and the starter wouldn't turn load on.

First. Check voltage if its a electric type flip breaker all the way off than back on sometimes breaker flips halfway. Then check for a thermal overload near blower housing usually long and white if it fails motor won't run

Are there fuses in the dryer? Not getting hot. Could it be the heating element?

Hi

If the dryer is not drying the clothes then you would need to check for the following things-

Electric Dryer---

1. Inspect the fuses and circuit breakers they may have burned out or tripped. Usually, dryer will still tumble but not create heat if a fuse or a circuit breaker is not working.

2. Check for the amp reading at 240 V, it should have reading of 24, 21 and 3 amp (approx.) for 2 lines and neutral respectively.

3. Heating element may have turned or the connection to the element might be loose. Sometimes a shorted circuit element will keep on blowing the fuse or circuit breaker.

4. Motor wiring shorting to ground.

Hope this helps...

Dried a load fine, next load tumbles wont dry. still cant get heat

Hi,

Make sure front of dryer is not blocked, air flow is needed to dry.Check that the lint filter and exhaust duct is clean.

Check the blown fuses and home’s circuit breaker tripped. Dryer use 2 household Fuses or a circuit breakers, If one is blown, the dryer may still operate but not heat. Alternatively, the dryer may heat, but it may not heat up as hot as it should. Replace the Fuses or reset the circuit breaker.

Another common cause of a dryer failing to heat is a faulty Heating Element. You will need to replace it.

Good Luck and have a nice day.
Rating the solution is highly appreciated.

RE: Roper Electric Dryer, front load

You have a ground fault or short . Disconnect dryer and remove small panel that holds the cord. Check if any wires are frayed, loose or touching any other metal objects.

Heavy loads (e.g., jeans, etc) is tripping the circuit breaker

WOW, 10yrs was a good investment of your money. Anyhow large amp loads may be contributed to the motor or fatigued heating elements. Also the breaker can wear out if its ran loaded for extended periods. Here are a few things you can try. Check to ensure that the barrel sleeve rings are in good condition so that there would be less drag on the motor and fix the obvious. Then change your breaker out and change the electrical outlet. if your not comfortable with changing these two items DON'T DO IT.
TIP OF THE DAY--To reduce the suction draft and drying time your drier and save some cash, remove the lint catcher and take it to the sink. Run water into it, if there is excessive pooling of the water (water not running straight through) then fabric softener is fouling the lint screen. Use a small brush and dish detergent to clean it and then shake off all the water and dry the screen. Remember this tip on future driers and you will make the dryer blower motor last much longer. :?) ck vent system to outside also ck the vent hose behind dryer to be sure it is not being mashed flat when pushed back..while you have it out ck to see if cord connection screws are tight loose screws can cause cord to overheat and melt insulation causing short..if breaker trips immediately suspect dryer if runs for a time before kicking suspect weak breaker
