This is a scanner, not a printer. I have downloaded the HP software for the scanjet 3570c but the Imaging Director Icon on the desktop will not work nor will the buttons on the front of the scanner. I can get the copier to work and I can scan pictures using the Control Panel to open the scanner. I want to scan some 35 mm slides and the TMA is not available to me due to this problem.

  • bjwhittam Nov 14, 2008

I downloaded tbe software from this site but the problem persists.

  • bjwhittam Nov 14, 2008

It took a while but I downloaded the file from HP and I still get an error message when I try to scan. I'll try again to get the Photo and Imaging Director Icon to work.

  • bjwhittam Nov 15, 2008

I am still getting the error message hpqscnvw has encountered a problem and needs to close. I reinstalled the softwware at the HP site but it doesn't seem to be reaing it.

OK, looks like there a software conflict during the installation. To resolve this issue, you will have to do a 'clean boot', which is different from a regular installation. Download the latest version of your software from the HP website and follow these instructions:

For XP. (Please replace the word 'camera' in the article with 'printer'. The procedure is the same)

For Vista

If you have a different operating System, please post back using the 'add comment' button, and I will post the relevant clean boot procedure for that OS..

"hpqscnvw has encountered a problem and needs to close"

Check if you have an anti-virus running that might have blocked the program from running.

The driver which u had installed is not complete. as when you install the scanjet drivers it gives a message on the screen, that do you want to load the complete long version software or just install the required drivers of short cut versions..and u have selected that short cut version so u r facing this problem. just uninstall the current drivers loaded in your printer. delete the drivers. then again reload the drivers and select long version the complete 1.and it will solve your problem. thanks.

Usually, when that happens, it is a software problem.

Unplug the printer USB, and re-install software from disk again, install tyhe complete software suite, not only the driver, or the "scan from button" feature that is software controlled will not work.

Thanks

If you are not able to use the button on the printer uninstall the HP printer software and driver from Add/remove program.

Disconnect the printer from the computer and then restart
Reinstall the printer software by downloading the latest one from www.hp.com . Connect the printer when it ask you to do that and turn on the printer
Finish installing the software

It will work.

Thanks

I accidentally deleted my hp director icon from my computer i dont know how to restore my hp director

Hi,

If you have just deleted the icon from desktop and not uninstalled then we can put a shortcut back on desktop

Click on START button
click on MY Computer
OR
Open MY Computer icon from Desktop

Open Local Disk C:\
Open Program Files
Open HP Folder
Open Bin Folder
You will find a file by name HPDIREC
Right click on the file name and Click create shortcut on desktop ( this icon will not look exactly like the HP Director icon you deleted )

Close the window and you will find the HP Direct icon on desktop

If not, you can uninstall the software from Add/remove programs under control panel and install the latest software for your printer. Click on the download button below to open HP website to download the software by selecting your operating system
Download

*Note : HP Director is not longer designed by HP. IT is replaced with a new Software called HP Solution Center

HP Solution Center does not recognize the scanner anymore... We are operating on a Windows 7 system... the drivers had to be downloaded from the internet because the cd that came with the printer was for...

I had the same problem and solved it. I was using HP Solution Centre to run my HP Scanjet 5590 on Windows 7 Pro 64 bit without problems. Then I ran the scanner using Windows Fax and Scan, but didn't like it, so went back to HP Solution Centre - whereupon the scanner was not recognised.
After hours of reinstalling software etc etc, without success, I suddenly noticed four device icons on the left hand side of HP Solution Centre. These were labelled (when hovered over with the mouse) hp scanjet 5590, hp scanjet 5590 #2, hp scanjet 5590 #3, hp scanjet 5590 #4. Only the top icon was active, but when I clicked on any of the four it moved to the top.
Clicking on hp scanjet 5590 #2 gave me a working installation once more - problem solved. No doubt the multiple icons arose from my desperate attempts to try different USB ports.

Lost HP Dirctor Icons

Please confirm the version of Internet Explorer you are using If it is 8.0 or 7.0 then I would suggest you to please degrade the Internet Explorer version to 6.0 because HP Director is not compatible with IE 7.0 or 8.0. You can alos check for the scanning file and you can find it at

please click on Start button -> My Computer -> C: Drive -> Program files -> HP -> Digital Imaging -> Bin -> hpqscnvw.exe whe you will double click on this file, it will give you an interface to scan.

you can also click Start button -> all Programs -> HP -> HP Director (if it is there)
then right click on the HP Director and click Send to -> Desktop, it will create a shortcut on the desktop.

I hope it will work for you.

When I try to scan, I get error message on printer that says No Scan Options. Press OK to continue. I have to put the cd back in the tray and run it again in order to use my scanner.I've turned it off...

I think you have installed the HP full feature software in the computer.
You can check it, you need to click on Start button -> All Programs -> HP -> HP Director

please check if you are able to scan from HP Director (if yes then change the below settings so that you would be able to scan from the button on the unit)

open the HP Director -> click on "settings" -> scan settings -> scan to setup and you need to populate all the options which you see in the left panel. when you will populate all the options to right panel. Then click UPdate device or OK button. and then try to scan again from the button on the unit. It will work. If it does not then check for the DIM (Digital imaging monitor) icon in the system tray, it would have a green checkmark over it. if you do not see it then you have to start it from the below steps
please click on Start button -> My Computer -> C: Drive -> Program files -> HP -> Digital Imaging -> Bin -> hpqtra08.exe when you will double click on the file, you will see DIM icon in the system tray and you will be able to scan from the button on the unit.

you can also click on the above link to understand it better.

I hope it will definitely help you out.

Uninstall all HP software from your PC and download the "Basic functionality driver" from the HP website, then scan using another program, like paint shop pro, photoshop or Imaging.

Scanner issue on the HP 1610 all in one

Hi, Let me explain you the real cause so that when ever you face this issue with any printer you will be able to fix this in quick time. The scanning needs Bi-directional communication and as you are able to print and scan from the computer software fine this shows that the software part of scanning exe file is working fine. Please try to scan from software and if this works we have to next check for full feature HP software is installed in the computer. If you are able to scan fine from HP software check for the DIGITAL IMAGING Monitor Icon it will be a green icon in the system tray in the right corner of desktop this icon must be present to enable the scan from front panel scan button. If the icon is there right click on it and exit it and then search for hpqtra08.exe file in the computer if the file is found double click on the application file to get the icon back running on the desktop. Once done try to scan again from the front panel scan button and check if the issue is resolved. If the Digital imaging monitor icon is not on the desktop system tray search for the file hpqtra08.exe in the computer and excute the application file . Even if the icon is there and you are not able to scan from the scan button we have to set the settings in the HP software In the HP director click on settings >> scan settings >> scan to button settings there click on the Destination list button this will open a small window with Two boxes 1)Available scan list 2) front panel scan to list all we have to do is to move all the programes from the available scan to list to front panel scan to list by selecting each program and click on add to move it to right. Once done do not forget to save the settings click on OK to save the settings once done try to scan from scan button this should fix the issue. The Digital imaging monitor icon or Hpqtra08.exe file should be running to enable the scan function from the scan button ... I hope this will help you in solving the all the issue in future related to scan butto not working the same steps applies to NO SCAN OPTIONS message on printer when you try to scan ..... Regards, Barret.....
