Dropped camera on grass in open lens position. It worked for awhile but was making a clicking sound when opening and closing lens. Now it won't move at all, it is in the in position but lens cover is open. I can hear the motor on when turning the camera on, but the lens will not extend.
I have the same problem. I was taking pictures, turned the camera off. That's it. It won't come on. I changed all the batteries. The light comes on and beeps and turns off. Now it stopped beeping. Just stuck and humms. Nothing on the screen. It's just black and dead. Unbelieveable. It's not that old either. What to do??????????I have the same problem. Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...
Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try:

Sounds like the lens got bent out of alignment. Call Canon at 1-800-828-4040. They are really good with their support with or without warranty. You can send it in for repair or ask for the Canon loyalty Program. You trade in your broken camera and they'll give you a newer model for an incredible price.
Hello, I'm Mark Faith from the states. I purchased the CASIO EX-Z700 series. However, I accidentally dropped the camera when the camera was on and the lens was extended. It makes a grating sound, and the monitor screen said "Lens error".
Now, the camera is turned off with its lens extended. When I see the lens from the top, the lens position is more concentrated to the right, and the gaps between each lens is bigger on the left hand side of the lens.
I sincerely hope this would help you to analyze the lens situation. I'll be patiently waiting for a list of solutions. Thanks.
In a nutshell, this error happens when the lens gets stuck while trying to extend and comes slightly out of alignment. Particularly if it's been dropped while open. The lens gets stuck in the extended position, and refuses to move either to focus the lens or to retract when powered off.
If your camera is still under warranty, the best thing you can do have Polaroid should fix it. If your camera is out of warranty, or if Polaroid refuses to repair it for free, the one thing you can try is to If you gently, and I do mean GENTLY push against the lens with the PALM of your hand as you turn it on, it may cause it to depress back into the camera. If that doesn't work, and you can't reset it or turn it on/off several times, then you may have to send it in for a repair estimate anyway.
Did not drop my camera but my lens is also stuck half way. I can hear it trying to extend but it does not move. I also get a n E18 code on my screen.
