Hi this is what i get when you turn on the PC takes a few seconds and shuts down the PC. "SMART Faulure Predikted on Hard Disk 4 : WDC WD3200BEVT-222CTO-(S1) WARNING. IMMidietly back-up your data...

SMART is to measure your Hard Disk Drive health. This warning tells you to backup important stuff and prepare to replace the HDD. If the computer can no longer boot into Windows, connect the HDD to another PC or you can also get one of those HDD enclosures which will let you connect the HDD to other PC's through USB connection so you can backup your files.

Hope this help, goodluck!

When i turn on my acer aspire 5050 laptop th only thing appears on the screen isoperatig system not found

Unfortunately, this is most likely a sign of a failed hard drive.
To verify that this is the case, make sure that you have removed any CD/DVD disks, disconnected any external drives or thumb drives, and removed any diskettes from the diskette drive from the computer.
Once you're sure that you've disconnected and removed all of the above, power-off the laptop by pressing and hold the power button until the laptop completely shuts-down.
Once shut down, attempt to start the computer. If the computer again displays the "operating system not found" message, then your hard drive has most likely failed and lost most or all of the data that it had on it.
Take the laptop in to a reputable service center to have them verify that the drive has failed. If it has, have them replace the drive and install the operating system and applications that you had on the old hard drive.
If you didn't have a backup of the data on your computer, also have them attempt to save any data that they are able to off of the failed drive.
Once you have your laptop repaired and running again, I suggest that you subscribe to an online backup service like Mozy or Carbonite to back-up your data. It costs less than $60 a year and will protect you from the next hard drive failure.

Desktop screen gives me a blue screen and no icons

Hi thanks for using fixya.
That kind of problem sounds like hard drive problem, try to replace the hard drive for another or even take it out and if no blue screen appears you know , it is the hard drive .

When i turn the power on after two minutes it shuts down right away. tried to charge it still the same it will turn on for 2 mins then shut down again. i tried rebooting it press f8 but it gave me another...

you got 2 things here:
1. pc shutting down unexpectedly
2. blue screen

1. the cause could vary:
a. cpu overheating: make sure you are letting the laptop to breath, open/clean vents.
b. motherboard failure: get a new laptop.
c. battery failure: try to take the battery out and connect the laptop and test/replace the battery as needed.

2. blue screen: if it is a Blue Screen of Dead, try to note any error codes and post back or at this stage it could be virus: take the hd out, connect it to an enclusure and hook it up to another good computer and attempt to save the usuful data. then reinstalled hard drive in laptop and reinstall os.
b. hadware failure: replace laptop.

on the password:

the only three possibilities where you may be asked for a password is if you're trying to access a password protected bios (which you rarely do with f8) or if you're accessing the recovery console in which you need to enter your windows user name and password or if you're accessing the computer in safemode in which you can enter any user name and their password or the user name: Administrator and for password it could be either blank or whatever password was set when windows was installed

good luck!

Computer runs off battery only not the power cord (battery is brand new)

You have a serious problem with the power and charging circuit. Normally if the battery is faulty the laptop can function with the power adapter plugged and running off the mains.
If a techo cannot fix without replacing the motherboard, then replacing the motherboard might not be a cost effective solution.

You salvage the hard drive by inserting it into an USB hard drive adapter case and use it as an external USB hard drive.
Sorry about this, you have very few options.

Hd power problem systemax cpu

If you would provide more information about your Systemax system... model/serial number I can look the specs up. I can tell you the only way that it could be the hard drive would be if you had a bad power supply, not that your system can't handle the "power" of the hard drive. If you end up getting a new power supply, you could opt for one with a little higher wattage if you'd like. A 160gb hard drive isn't going to pull any more meaningful amount of current than a 40gb. What I would look at would be wither you had the jumpers on the hard drive configured correctly. For info on jumpers, see...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jumper_(computing)

Individual drive manufactures and drive models have different method for setting the jumpers and it will also very on what other IDE connected devices you have in your computer (optical drives, hard drives, Zip drives, and etc.).

Blue Screen Error Message

Your hard drive crashed. You need to buy a new hard drive and restore your computer using the restore disks. You can buy a hard drive here: http://www.interproshop.com/commerce/catalog/product.jsp?product_id=13055&czuid=1167865660865 They also sell larger hard drives. If you dont have a restore disk, you'll need to contact HP and they'll send you one. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=423721&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&submit.y=9&submit.x=8&lang=en&cc=us
